It's been several years since my brain ignored multiple red flags in a row. I've ignored one or two in a row in the past with predictable consequences, but this one was all on me. For the noobs like me, here's the flags (and how I ignored them in my foolishness).
1. Multiple posts, different pricing, all above market. (maybe low volume?
2. A little too nice on the set-up. Not business-like. (maybe low volume?
3. Gated door. Delayed meet. (but a big apartment building that is supposed to be Air BNB so who knows?
4. "that guy" - the guy you say to yourself, if this is a scam, he's definitely part of it. Comes out the door just when she needs 5 more minutes, and hangs around impatiently. (I was 50/50 on bailing at this point. So close. 5 more minutes and I was gone).
5. I'm eyeing "that guy" and he knows it. Is being fidgety. Actually looks at his wrist that has no watch. He leaves gated area to go smoke, but never leaves the area. That's not normal for Edgewater (But I'm vested now, she is here- I doubt they knew how close I was to bailing. Literally 30 seconds to 1 minute).
6. She comes down. Looks good until I look down; bleeding scabs on her legs. Like literal blood running down her legs. (OK. At this point brain not functioning obviously, should have walked).
7. Shittiest place I have ever seen. And I have been to a lot of places that people have called shitty on this site and said "oh, not so bad" - the place. Crack pipes on the tables, was worried about needles on the couch and bed.
8. Overly talkative about this, that and the other- building report, all while inching towards the door after taking my donation (slow motion I watched this happen and I swear I was simultaneously putting my shoes back on. There wasn't any doubt what was happening).
My bad for ignoring the warning. Out $$. Hope others can learn from the experience. Even when you see it happening it can be tough to disengage.
For those that say I should not have prepaid, fair enough. Another on me, but I sense had she not fled, "that guy" was coming up to finish the con. As I read in another post once, I find putting the cash out to take some of the tension off. To each his own.
Sad to see her doing this, she supposedly used to provide legit service. This is at least the second ripoff report I've seen on her now. Listcrawler is an advertising site. They don't make any money off of reviews or review content, their business model is based around hookers buying advertising.
