They still have to have evidence on who exactly sent the message and there is still nothing illegal about meeting, getting dinner, and talking etc. Think about it, just because a site may be used for this and that, doesn't mean that some don't use the site for dating as well. You can easily be arrested in one of these targeted enforcements for a b. S charge. And they fully know the charges will not stick, but. You will be arrested and publicly humiliated. Subsequently, your life long "charge" will amount to. Your name and mugshot in the newspaper, social media, Google searches, and whatever other public forum is available for all of your family, friends, co-workers, employers, enemies, future girlfriends, etc. To see and cause you anguish for the rest of your life. Ask yourself, what's worse. A $500 misdemeanor fine, or, a news story on your name that said you went to [URL]seeking.com[/URL]. , STG, etc. And was meeting someone for "drinks" and got arrested. All they need is a public humiliation to serve as a deterrent to other men.

I agree that a lot of guys can't take the heat. That's a problem, but that's always been a problem. The issue here is that they changed the law to make it a crime to "infer" that one is paying money for sex. See my post #114, this section. Of course, many guys take a girl out on a date, buy her dinner, drinks, a night out, and then get laid. This is not considered "paying" for sex, it seems that indirect payments are legal, LOL, presumably because the society wants that to lead to marriage, monogamy, and the control of men thru the availability of sex.

What we need to do is find ways to make sure that if we do get busted, we can quash the case. We all understand that if your wife sees your mug on the TV your goose is cooked, regardless of weather you got convicted or not. That's why its necessary to cover your ass so well that even if you get caught up they won't bring a case because there is NO evidence. The last thing they want is lawsuits brought against them for violating your rights, false arrest, and so on.

[/QUOTE]Cheech, I looked around on House Bill 431 and I don't think it makes the changes you're saying. I'm not a lawyer and I want to state clearly I could be wrong about some or all of this. This is just what I think is going on. And I don't know how to post about this without going long, so forgive me! Went down a rabbit hole. LOL.

But under that it was a Third Degree Misdemeanor. Under the new law they can sometimes charge a First Degree Misdemeanor. Here's the Attorney General's statement: "The bill also separates the existing soliciting violation, creating a new provision for the buyers of sex with enhanced penalties. From an article about the new law being enforced: "Yost said that with this operation, for the first time in Ohio, some of those seeking to pay for sex were charged with engaging in prostitution, a misdemeanor of the first degree. This charge was created under House Bill 431. My interpretation is that now sometimes a John can be charged with engaging in prostitution, not just solicitation, and might face a higher level misdemeanor. And in addition to a higher penalty, they can force you into an education and treatment program. I'm not sure what facts have to take place to be charged with Engaging in Prostitution as opposed to Solicitation.

Under the Solicitation statute it says: "No person shall knowingly solicit another to engage in sexual activity for hire in exchange for the person receiving anything of value from the other person. " [URL]https://codes.ohio.gov/ohio-revised-code/section-2907.24[/URL].

Under the Engaging in Prostitution statute it says: "No person shall recklessly induce, entice, or procure another to engage in sexual activity for hire in exchange for the person giving anything of value to the other person". [URL]https://codes.ohio.gov/ohio-revised-code/section-2907.231[/URL].

You'll have to figure out the differences for yourselves, but apparently some Johns can wind up charged with 2907.24 and some with 2907.231, whereas before they all would've been charged with just solicitation.

As to what constitutes an "implicit agreement" -- my assumption is that will be the same as before, as that language was already in there. To find that out, you'd have to talk to a lawyer or read a lot of Ohio cases and see how they interpret it. My advice, as always, is to be careful about incriminating words or actions until you're 100% that everything is safe. And now that becomes more important, as some words or actions can bump you up to a higher level charge, and one that looks a bit more embarrassing on your record.

If my job fired me and I was found innocent or reduced I would have a hell of a lawsuit and could live off the dole for a while. Arrest me for meeting a woman at a gas station or bar for drinks? Good luck to them. If it got brought up in a job interview I have a way with words and can definitely talk my way into a job after I explain about how I was wrongfully arrested for taking a woman to a restaurant for drinks and dinner. I do want to see the case results of the recent Akron sting before I consider anything else to see if reduced charges will still be a thing.

Retirement still seems on the horizon anyway in OH, the bigger deterrent for me is just how dry its been out there, only women that are decent looking are set ups and robberies it seems. I'm looking to take trips to other states at this point where the laws are becoming more lax or Vegas for that matter.
