1. I picked up a so-so looking WSW Friday night on Trop, near the Ocean's 11 bar (I was getting desperate). Well, she scared the crap out of me so bad, that I pushed her right out of my car. She got in and immediately unzipped her fly and said "grab my 'kitty'." I know she was probably just trying to make sure I wasn't a copper, but the way she did it was just downright freaky, especially since we were in such a lighted and busy area. I've probably only picked up 20 SWs before, but from that limited sample, this was a new one for me. Was I over-reacting by ditching this chick?

2. Trop was verrrrrry dead from 10pm to 2am, which should have been prime hours, no? In fact, Harmon, Paradise, Flamingo, and Swenson were all completely barren during all my passes during those 4 hours. Where was all the action Friday night?

3. What's the best place to find higher end HSWs? I'd be ever willing to drop one bill for a clean, 20yo, tight-bodied HSW, but in five years I've never found such an opportunity.

5. I did a little more research on the asset forfeiture provisions in Nevada. I may have spoken too soon in my last post. Nevada has on occasion become over-zealous in application of some state forfeiture laws, especially in the context of illicit drug producers (e.g. taking ownership of a nice suburban house used as a meth lab). So, perhaps legally speaking they good get Boffo the Fireman's F-150. But, practically speaking, the asset forfeiture laws are not leveraged in such instances.

No. In fact, prime hours in my limited experience have been about 4pm to 7pm. That is why there is so much discussion on this board about how difficult it is to manuever with all the traffic.

After 2am on the strip from Venetian down to Ballys. Mad amounts of sw's, particularly black ones. Also lots of pimps out...tons in fact.

Let me add in a couple of things.

-Casino security was super hyper about getting any pimps or black sw's out. This was particularly true about Harrahs, O Sheas, IP, Flamingo, and Barbary Coast. OTOH, they seemed to turn a blind eye to any of the white or latina girls. In fact, at Harrahs Saturday night, a management employee actually talked to two very obvious white girls that were hookers.

-Don't be a dumb ass. Seriously. Or a wierdo. There were a hella lot of wierdos out Friday night walking up and down the strip and very obviously looking for a "wife" for the night. Look, if I am freaked out by you and calling you a wierdo, what do you think the girls think? Also lots of fat, 50 year old, bald guys wearing shorts that their huge gut sticks out over, white socks and black shoes. Like I said, don't be a dumbass. Maybe you are paying, but if you APPEAR to be smelly and gross, even girls that f--k for money will not want you. I've argued attire here before....I still believe that you must be at least presentable, especially if you are old, fat and ugly. Christ, just wear something normal. Despite the huge number of ho's out, NONE of the wierdos or old guys I saw hooked up with anyone.

- Know the pay scale. I saw one of the girls that Harrahs management guy was talking to go outside with some old fat bald guy that was reasonably presentable. I do not know what she quoted him, but he countered at "well I've got six". Dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb. She was ok, but not worth $$$, let alone $$$$$$. Good god, how do you get so hard up? Never ever pay more than $$ to one of the girls working the Harrahs to BC area.

- Saturday night far less girls out than Friday. Also far less pimps.

- If you have a sister....or know any females going to Vegas...tell them to stay the eff away from the area between Harrahs and BC, especially if by themselves. Unless they enjoy getting kidnapped, raped, and forced into prostitution. Also, do not walk this area if you are with your gf, wife, etc. The pimps will harass the girl and attempt to start a fight with you. I actually saw a pimp grab a guys gf....he started to act tough. Fortunately his gf told him to keep walking and shut up. Better yet, just warn any girls you know not to talk to ANY black men in this area.

A local judge has been arrested as part of a Metro undercover prostitution sting. Mark Peplowski was arrested early Sunday morning for solicting prostitution. Peplowski is a lawyer and pro-tem judge in Henderson. The arrest report says he was caught near Mohave and Fremont after paying Karen Harris $50 for oral sex.

This is just one of the nearly 200 arrests Metro police made over the weekend during an undercover sting called "Operation Pimp".

"What we're actually out there doing is seeing how many girls are out there prostituting, how many will approach you and solicit and if that happens they are arrested," says Metro's

Metro says over the past three months the prostitution problem in our valley has become worse. They say the reason was their inability to enforce the loitering statute. "The Supreme Court determined that the law was constitutionally vague, with some of the language in the law itself, so as a result we lost the ability to enforcement," says

And officers say it didn't take long for the word to get out. They've seen an increase of girls in Las Vegas from as far away as Canada, Hawaii and Wisconsin. "It's the way of life for some of the girls out there, it's what they do for a living," explains

But now, the county has rewritten the statute and officers have the power to take prostitutes to jail for loitering and soliciting. This past weekend nearly 100 Metro undercover units hit the streets for a huge crack-down they called Operation Pimp.

In two days, a total of 185 women were arrested on the streets of Las Vegas. Each one was brought to a command post for processing. Every girl is tested for HIV. If the results comes back positive, they notify the girls and if they are arrested for prostitution in the future, it then becomes a felony crime.

With an increase in patrol and big crackdowns like this, officers want the word to get out: Las vegas is not the place for prostitutes to come and work the streets. "You can't prostitute here, it's illegal regardless of what you think and the department is going to make sure to arrest those that are prostituting themselves," says

As far as the statutes go, the city still has not re-written it's loitering law. So in the city limits, officers can only arrest girls for soliciting prostitution not loitering, but the city plans to change that soon.

I missed the news story. I think they saved it for the eleven pm broadcast to spare exposing the Future Phuckers of America to such debauchery. There was also no mention of it in the Review Journal. But that's par for our local journalistic bafoons.

OPERATION PIMP ! HA ! What a laugh ! No mention of any pimps being busted. Just a 19 year veteran firefighter, a retired cop, and a sitting judge. The only thing the judge is guilty of is criminal stupidity (overpaying by $30 for head on Fremont). That's about two and a half times the going rate! They should also make his fine and community service 2 1/2 times to equal the severity of his fat cat economic crime.

If I understood the interviewed undercover cop correctly, they still can't bust 'em in Hizzhonor's fiefdom unless they catch 'em in the act or use the old entrapment game. I think I'll cruise the old Fremont tonight !

Thanks, that's interesting reading, and even better viewing on the streaming video from the station's web site. I definitely recomend it over summer reruns while it's still available online. Come to think of it, the low ratings in summer TV rerun season probably have something to do with why it is available.

Some observations:

1. This story is at least the third time this year I've seen an assertion made through the local press that there has been some kind of big unusual upsurge in prostitution said to have been going on in Las Vegas for months now, at the same time this board and others I'm familiar with are full of the usual complaints about a percieved lack of adequate quantity and quality of working girls outside the resort corridor. Besides the high profile foolishness on Trop this month, does anyone here have the slightest idea what these guys have been talking about? I'm probably in the distinct minority around here in that I don't really believe in ragging on law enforcement for enforcing the laws they are given, since that is their job description, but this elaborate and obviously staged Metro PR offensive talking up this supposed big new different thing happening seems silly to me.

2. The unidentified Metro spokesman attributes the alleged epidemic of local sex to the temporary lack of an enforceable loitering statute, yet the old statute was not all that useful for a multitute of excellent reasons, and was only unavailable for a matter of weeks before it was redrafted and reenacted by the County. But the story reports that "officers say it didn't take long for the word to get out...[and]...they've seen an increase of girls in Las Vegas from as far away as Canada, Hawaii and Wisconsin." Something different than what has been happening in Las Vegas since the invention of commercial airliners and air-conditioning? Then I gather that street level working girls in Milwaukee and Edmonton apparently are getting better and more timely legal advice about the subtle nuances of Clark County county judicial matters than is Clark County government? The CWs, yeah OK, but I had no idea all those ordinary SWs and their boyfriends were such nimble trans-national jet setting barristers, since most of them cannot read and comprehend this sentence.

3. "We're working on the Strip to include [busting hookers in] hotels..." That really would be news to me. Anyone see this?

4. I really learned something about how the HIV testing program works from the video news clip. Actually sounds good to me.

5. The Hon. Judge Mark P _ _ _ ski, Esq. is a moron. He paid fifty bucks for a BJ in his car on Fremont, and she is fat and ugly. Then the drooling idiot apparently filled them in on all the details to make the case against himself airtight, including the price paid and service performed, since the hag really was a bottom end hooker and it obviously wasn't a recorded decoy sting. This judge needs to be removed on grounds of legal incompetence and financial imprudence. And why the hell doesn't a judge just book a room and stroll up to the bar at the Wynn?

6. A local news outlet doing business in Las Vegas needs to employ copy editors who can correctly spell common place names such as "Fremont."

I'm usually careful but for me these reports are still a useful caution. Based on what I saw a couple weeks ago and from reading this forum and seeing the video, it's definitely a time to be on your game if you're out there mongering in the hotter spots in LV. Assume there's a good chance you're being watched if you decide to interact w/ an SW, so take precaution, deal with regulars, or just take a mongering vacation until this blows over as of course it will. Glad to see that pimps are getting a free pass in Operation Pimp.

I hit the "track" right after my last post about 9 pm thinking these well informed pimps also watch the news. And the incognito vice cop left the impression that downtown was still wide open with no enforceabe statute. I saw the normal gaggle of trash with possibly one Tropicanna transferee around the Odessy. None at all till Flamingo (1). A couple of brewskies at my regular turnaround. Asked the boys about any weekend sweeps. None noticed.

Return trip about 10:30; two at Flamingo, two at Indios, two at the Denney's near Charleston and the same flock of direlects on Fremont. I stop at the Stern for another turn around brewskie. I spot the channel 3 news van parked across the street, antena hoisted, flood lights on, newsman in suit with microphone. I decided to see what's up. I introduced myself as a deep cover investigative reporter on special assignment for USASG looking at violations of the RICO ACT by local law enforcement and judiciary as it relates to the pandering statutes. What a coincidence he told me. They were covering the proliferation of prostitution and Metro's Operation Pimp. In fact, he was the live lead in for the 11 o'clock news. It was 10:55. I broke the world land speed record to get home for the news.

I also got a report from another scout that the "Trop Track" was barren around 8pm.

Mike 80: Excellent question about where Fremont ends. It had me puzzeled for many years. The correct answer is about where the Showboat stood. Silverstate Glass is still Fremont. The motel next door is Boulder Highway. When Housels built the Showboat, he wanted a Fremont street address, so the city fathers extended it to his property.

Wastrel point 5: The late Judge Symore Brown had just such an arrangement with Benny Binion. He had a room there and you could have a "meeting in chambers" most evenings when he bellied up to the casino bar with his bevy of CGs. Point 6: Isn't Fremont the same dude who single handedly annexed Kalifornia from Mexico? Wonder if he could pull the same stunt if he walked into the Silver Saddle?

One final note: On my cruise of the Fremont and Boulder "TRACKS" I did not see one black and white. My guess is they burned all of their overtime in this massive sweep which bagged 285 girls, 3 respectable citizens, and NO PIMPS.

But don't let your guard down. My money's still on this weekend. Metro's fiscal year ends Friday at midnight. Just imagine what havock a lame duck sheriff with $500,000,000 new taxpayer dollars in his budget may squander on OPERATION PIMP. It ain't over till the fat whoare sings !
