Bishop, 28, of Canton, was released on her own recognizance from Stark County Jail for procuring prostitution (aka pimping). Shafer, who goes by the name Gretchen in the escort community, solicited an undercover detective known as Scott to engage in sex for $170 per hour within the city limits through use of her cellphone.
After Bishop transported Gretchen to the location for the tryst, Gretchen was to compensate Bishop for the ride.
Due to using their cellphone to broker transportation to the location, both also were charged with possessing criminal tools.
A check of the Stark County online case docket yield no prior charges for Bishop; however, Shafer, under numerous aliases, including Bobbie Mosser, has convictions for possession of cocaine, identity fraud, forgery and receiving stolen property.
If convicted, Shafer faces up to six months in jail and $1,000 in fines, plus imposition of any suspended jail time if still on probation.
