Summary:

I should know better, especially given my own history. But something in me sees the suffering of a dope sick addict and for some reason I can no more let her lie there in misery than I could ignore a drowning child -- for in a very real sense, that's what she is. So my plan was to get her to her pretrial hearing in a presentable enough condition that they didn't re-incarcerate her and then take her to a lawyer friend who was going to require rehab as part of his agreement to take the case. She just didn't' make it that far. She nearly died in my car taking her to the lawyer. Scariest shit I've ever seen. So yes, I should know better. But what I know I will do is seek a more self-protective way not to ignore the next one who calls me in need. That's just the unfortunate way I'm wired I guess.

Video surveillance if recorded can be used to see who it was depending on how long it is kept.The charges were all done on line and the card was never actually swiped through a machine. I have turned everything over to the local boys in blue. They are investigating. Once they know for sure, I plan to prosecute. Even if I have to tell them how we met. For the response. I appreciate the advice. I paid her in cash, thus assuming that I was in the clear. However, I did make the mistake of leaving my money clip / credit card holder out on the desk in my room while I was using the restroom during our time together. She must have lifted the number then. Would have been easy to do with a cell phone. Two quick pictures.
