So, it seems a company that sells hacking software to the police, including the ability for LE to turn on web cameras on computers to turn them into surveillance devices, was hacked. Yep. I guess they pissed off the wrong people as they were not only hacked but a whole bunch of private stuff, including copies of invoices to various customers, was freely distributed.
I guess, turn about is fair play, huh?

I am no attorney, but I have read a few milestone cases about this issue.
You need to understand that violating your right to be excluded from unwarranted search and seizure (your Forth Amendment right) just means they can't use anything they gather on an illegal operations against you in court. So, I just went back to look and there is nothing in my AM account info that is worth anything. No name, address or credit card info. And the email address attached is my blind Juno, which back in the day I got without attaching any personal information.
So, I know they hacked something like 36 million members info. I just don't know what anyone can do with what I had on there.
That said, there does seem to be some credit card info hacked. That could suck, but, truth is, when you pay by credit card it comes up as some obscure name, anyway, not the name of the company.

It's the case from a few years ago (which, strangely, got little national attention) where cops in Deming, NM decided they were going to fuck with a guy by medically searching his anal cavity for no particular reason other than a 'hunch' he had drugs stashed up there. Not only that, they went up inside him for a colonoscopy. And it was all perfectly legal, with a judge and the Dist Atty backing them up. The cops found nothing and the ACLU sued, quickly getting everything they asked for ($1. 6 million). But no one involved lost their job or was even disciplined.
The authorities want you to believe that this was an aberration. While it might have been extreme, all cops do shit close to it on a regular and daily basis, and it all depends simply on their mood and how belligerent you are to them. David Eckert was belligerent (he exercised his 'rights', kept his mouth shut, and did not consent to a car search) and look what happened to him. The only reason he got a big settlement was because the cops made a bunch of mistakes. If they hadn't, Eckert would not only have had a sore butt, but a nice $6,000 bill to pay for his court-ordered colonoscopy.

A2?There are multiple ways to get the raw dump data but it's in a MYSQL Dump format so if you don't know how to create and import SQL database tables then you'll be wasting your time downloading everything. Separate from the main SQL dump they released several hundred spreadsheets with all the credit card transactions from several years which include name, full address, amount, email address and date.
In addition there is a site you can use to see if your email is in the database: Ashley madison leak data dot com (no spaces) I've run some tests on it against the leaked data and it seems legit.
Lesson to mongers. NEVER use your real information. Ashley Madison offered to let you anonymously wire funds in via Western Union so there would be no record of you. How many people did that? How many people wish they had done that? Be smart out there.

C3.I realize many may already know this (I am certain C3 does) however even a throwaway email address that you do not think is traceable actually could be if you use "your own" internet connection, or one you sign into. The IP address and likely the MAC address of your device would always be captured to. Always best to use a proxy server. Either set one up or use many free ones out there. I have 6 or 7 on my desktop. Do your deeds on a proxy server or a public WiFI (no login information ) I.E. hotel rooms, cable wifi, att or Vz in many cases. Just say'n...

I know him to be fair, honest, reasonable, and passionate about every aspect of his life. He is responsible enough to go public with this to protect the integrity of his office, which protects the citizens of central florida from the bad guys. He is so different from Sheriff Grady Judd, who lies to the public and abuses his office to indulge his power-hungry ego at the expense of decent people. They are in different districts, but if their jobs did overlap, I predict that Mr. Ashton would probably choose not to prosecute 95% of Grady's arrests due to LEO misconduct! I do believe Mr. Ashton kept his public activity separate from his private life. I hope he can survive the embarrassment to his family. His children are some of the nicest kids I have ever met and he is very involved in their lives. So ease off on the guy. So he gave in to a little curiosity. First, he is not some clerk in the office, Jeff Ashton is the States Attorney for Orange and Osceola counties (Ninth Judicial Circuit). Second, he did not just visit the site once but repeatedly over a two year period. Given that it is a pay site, it is hard to believe that he did not make any contact (as he claims) with other members. Third, any time someone uses the term "honestly" it has been my experience they are lying. Fourth, ongoing poor judgment in one area often is indicative of poor judgment in other areas.
Most significantly personal failures often bleed over into professional ones. Imagine if an opposing attorney or criminal defendant found out about his repeated visits to this site and used it against him in the course of a case. Finally, he didn't come forward until he was caught. He didn't just one day decide to come clean.
BTW -- The Metropolitan Bureau of Investigation (MBI) is a permanent, multi-agency task force which was formed in Central Florida in December of 1978. The founding member agencies of the MBI are the State Attorney of the Ninth Judicial Circuit, the Orange County Sheriff's Office, and the Orlando Police Department.
When you make your living sitting in judgment of other people, your own life better be beyond reproach.

So all you are doing is saying that data breaches are OK if it contains information that we want. Why were filters not already in place to prevent this in the first place?

Up until a little over 2 years ago I had no idea what BP was not had ever heard of it. I didn't even know about Craigslist other then it was a good source for electronics and household things. So why doesn't the state instead of ordering a fine that probably won't get paid and the once bailed out will be right back in the same situation instead order they complete an outpatient program that us specifically designed to teach and rehabilitate these girls and upon completion wave fines and judication (for first offenders). Of course not all will be reformed upon completion but the ones that are definitely make it worth it.

I did some bouncer work at a strip club up north back in the day and was blown away at how much bread some of the guys were dropping on the dancers for nothing really. Not even getting a handshake. A guy has to go into the club or to see a provider with the understanding that he is going to see a show or have some fun and then snip it off, close the wallet and emotions and walk away. I seen some young guy crying with the manager because he had lost track of how much money he was blowing and had spent too much and was saying he couldn't make his car payment now. We had to walk the guy out with tears streaming down his face. The guys kept getting lap dances and buying this chick drinks because she had convinced him she was soooo into him. As soon as his money was gone she excused herself and was sitting by her next target! I told the guy that strippers do their thing to make money not boyfriends. It's all a game to make money. Call his bank tell them his payment will be late and it will never happen again and hope they don't come after his truck. I've also seen guys fall in love with providers and break the bank trying to woo them out of the business and even make them their wife. Of all the couples I have seen where the provider and client hooked up and then became a real BF-GF and then Husband and Wife couple and the Lady quit the business and they are still together doing fine is exactly 1. Yes 1. I have seen dozens try. And I am talking about the lady hooking up with a guy in the same age range, smooth looking dudes who were very successful and well to do financially. Even then I have seen literally dozens try and 1 succeed and are still married and together to this day. They however were a bit of an anomaly because he went to see her and then 4 months later they bumped into each other taking the same class in college! Both freaked out at first but later they talked it out became friends and built an actual friendship and dated proper. He didn't try to jump in and play Captain Save-a-Ho as some guys want to do and fail miserably. Why? Because the working lady doesn't want or need to be saved, she is playing the chump allowing him to live out this fantasy and she collect the goodies! As I said when you go out for some adult fun have at it. Go for it with zeal and gusto just like when you were a kid a Chuck E Cheese! But after you have had your fun cash in your tickets, get in your ride, smile and go home thinking about the fun time you just had and looking forward to your next fun time. Right before I left Louisville I heard the heartbreaking account of this poor old sap late 50's who was being bamboozled by this 24 year old BP chick. She had this poor grandfather of 2 believing that she was deeply in love with him, quitting the business was moving in with him going to college for her Masters degree and wow they were going to get married and the whole 9 yards! That's true. The police love prostitution stings because rather than have to catch criminals committing crimes, the police can simply create the crime themselves and then arrest a bunch of people who fall into their trap. It's so much less work per conviction that way.

Many of the monsters (victims?) respond to an ad from an alleged 18-19 year old and as the conversation progresses, the age keeps dropping and the tactics / methods go off the rails. Operations are such that you may have been about 1 click away from seeing a badge instead of DL. Adjoining county sheriff's departments are not abandoning overly aggressive stings because they tolerate predators rather, they don't like to 1) misallocate resources and 2) have most of their cases thrown out.

As always, I appreciate and respect your opinion but I've seen some background and "rest of the story" stuff on Grady's continuing quest for "Truth, Justice and the American Way. " The majority of these cases end up being thrown out and many neighboring sheriff's departments have discontinued these types of operations as they progress in a way like that outlined in a very recent post in the SB section. Many of the monsters (victims?) respond to an ad from an alleged 18-19 year old and as the conversation progresses, the age keeps dropping and the tactics / methods go off the rails. One perp I read about, who was not alone in his treatment, kept saying that he wanted nothing to do with a girl that young and like good carnival barkers, they finally got him onto the ride.
Having said all that, I ultimately agree with Vino. When you get busted it's on you for going past the point where a girl might be under age and taking any action toward meeting her. I don't get the attraction for babies and 14 year olds are babies. I can't even handle an 18 year old babbling so the attraction just doesn't register. Some of the bustees (I'm guessing and hoping a small minority) are simply the trolls that lived under the bridge that old fairy tales warned about. To the extent LE took them off the street, I applaud them. To the extent they tricked and lured dullards to their doom, I have mixed feelings. Beyond mocking the crap jobs these guys have (excuse me, had), there's a reason for such employment. They're mostly dumb f*cks who don't know when they're being played. Again, I'm 100% happy with predators who go after underage girls being put away but I'd love to see the transcript of the back and forth between the perps and LE and check my EntrappedOMeter response. Every effort you see to get transcripts like this out in the open are met by a brick wall. That speaks volumes.
Thankfully, from what I've seen on this site, the vast, vast majority of members are repulsed by monsters who pursue children. The takeaway is that, whether you were tricked, lied to, whatever; life is over for you. Even if / after the charges are dismissed; it's over. If you still can't handle 18 year old hags, get yourself a time machine and go back to the 1800's. This type of stuff was legal then and some of those "enlightened" ones considered 16 as getting a bit ripe.

If the 3 digits are over 500 you're a woman, under 500 is a man. For calculating the birthbdate. If you're a woman first subtract 500 from that number and then take that number divide it by 40, add 1 and that's the month, the remainder is the date so if that number is 162 that means that you're a male who was born on May 2nd.

WELL SAID! News report mentioned he got arrested after arriving from a flight inbound from Amsterdam? Never been there, but if they openly promote their "red light" districts and pots legal in stores and cafes, then why don't our own officials just follow in turn? Yup, in some states medical pots legal, but do the same with the girls too (. Besides only Nevada) then perhaps it would work itself out in the long run. Police can charge you with anything. With most misdemeanors they can't arrest you there and then, with some exceptions actually. Google Misdemeanor Exceptions. Basically police would file charges in you if they have enough probable cause, but wouldn't be able to arrest you right there and then because the crime is just a misdemeanor.
Now if they were doing a sting and you're actively breaking the law by meeting the elements of the crime then they can arrest you on the spot because it's occurring in their presence.
Felonies are a different story and they can arrest you for any felony charge as long as they have enough probable cause regardless if it occurred in their presence or not.
