Unless one gets a really good digital camera, you're stuck with one that you'll have to use the flash and suck more power from the batteries or use the camera's auto mode which averages all of the light. Thus dimmer pics.

I'm still using my 5 year old one and have to use Photoshop to lighten my pics. I did two of SE's pics of Michelle for an example.

I don't have Photoshop, so perhaps I will have to use Kenbenz's suggestion of using Microsoft Picture Viewer to edit my shots in the future, once I learn how to work with it.

Better yet, I need the willing assistance of a fellow monger who enjoys editing photos. I am the type who likes to take them and I don't have much patience for the detailed process of either learning how to edit or actually doing it. So if there are any any volunteers, I will batch and send my photos to you for cleanup and improvement before posting next time. :-)~

As always, you provide the most thorough reports--allowing us other mongers to make good selections in our trips to the K. I have been down there about 3 or 4 times since my last post, but just haven't had the time to post.

Almost all cameras these days allow manual adjustment of exposure. And often with flask, the image gets washed out. New cameras can be had fo the price of a full service quality SW or two... Take one for the team and get a good camera!

Photoshop has too many bells and whistles for my taste. I merely use MS PhotoEditor (free with old versions--maybe the same as MS free soft ware to which others have alluded (Microsoft Picture Viewer).

Your editing of your favorite pic among those I took of Michelle clearly is much better than the washout I get with a closeup using a flash. These rooms usually have very little light even in the day and when there is bright sunlight outdoors (I usually can't even see the SW through the lens; I have to guess), so the only solution to that without a flash would be to stop down to say f/2.8 or even f/2.0 and hold the camera very steady. Would a digital camera in the $100-$150 range have f-stop adjustment like that?

I don't recall much discussion of this subject in the past, but dropping off strategies are just as important as picking up strategies to avoid an unnecessarily high profile.

My first rule is NEVER to drop off on the K, or even drive with the SW on the K if at all possible. The LE presence there is just too high. Secondly, make sure she is ready to get out so there can be a smooth exit and getaway: make sure she has her purse, bags, money, jacket, cell phone, cigarettes, whatever, all set to go and isn't fumbling for everything when you stop.

A little closer and cheaper than a trip to Singapore is a much shorter flight to Curacao and a resort on one section of the island, where prostitution is legal, and where there are literally dozens of Latin hotties for rent 24/7. Thanks to all who gave me some tips. I downloaded a free graphics program called "ImageForge" and it has some very nice features. One of them is brightness control that allows you to dim some or all of the colors. This seems to help reduce considerably the washed out look of close ups taken with a flash. While editing my photos will result in a time delay from the time I take them to the time I post them, I think the improved quality should be well worth it and appreciated by all.

I have always liked this strip bar. It used to be called the Oakford Inn but has recently been completely remodeled and has changed its name. It is near the Neshaminy Mall. The bar has quite a varied collection of really good looking strippers, both day and night. And I would be more than pleased to try to mix the shots more between frontal and side, and get more of the face profile of the SW. This may be a embrassing question but I am sure other newbies to the SW scene have the same question. I usually do AMPs but the prices have been trending upwards and seeing Cookie's report, I am very tempted. You have a common newbie misunderstanding when reading the Philly SW threads that "the K" refers to K Street. It does not. It refers to Kensington Avenue, otherwise known as "the K" or "the Avenue" or "the Ave."

Here is an old post of mine which might shed some light on your new adventures as a monger on "the K."

Finding SWs on the K is a lot like fishing. You need to know WHEN to fish, WHERE to fish and HOW to fish if you expect to have any success.

I would say that 90% of the time I cruise the K I see at least one SW and more often than not 3 to 5 on any one pass, so for me it is usually a matter of choice rather than taking what I can find. And that is a daytime experience. Beginning at rush hour through early evening, multiply the SW availability by a factor of 3 to 5. But also multiply the mongers by more than those factors. As to weekends, many of the SWs are drug dependent which is a 7 day a week job in feeding their habits, so one day, in my experience, is pretty much like another in terms of SW availability.

That leaves the 10% of the time it is dry as a bone. It doesn't often happen but sometimes you just come up empty. I have actually never cruised K looking for a date and had to come home empty handed but some times you just have to work harder than others. Yesterday that happened to me. I made 4 complete passes on the K and saw zero, absolutely nada. But on the 5th pass I found a SW I recognized that to most others might have appeared to be waiting for a bus (because it was not a known SW pickup corner), and she was just sitting there, not really looking into car windows, smiling or waving, or giving any obvious SW signals. Right after that date I picked up another I recognized just walking casually in her sweatpants and jacket, whom most might also easily have taken to be a civilian. If you have the patience, just like in fishing, it can also be better to sit on a known corner and munch a snack and listen to the radio rather than staying on the move. If a really attractive SW appears she will be taken very quickly and the likelihood you will just happen to be driving by at that moment are not good unless you are willing to invest a lot of time and make your own luck or have the digits of SWs you want to date.

This brings up another important factor if you are new to the K scene: the SWs there blend in. They are likely to be wearing jeans and a hoodie and sneakers, not 5 inch spike heels and a mini dress up to their cootchies. So if you don't know any of them you may have passed quite a few and mistakenly thought they were civilians. They aren't always posted conspicuously on a corner, smiling and waving. Sometimes they are talking on their cell phones, jawboning with a friend, or just walking along and sipping a soda.

As to where: there are 3 main concentrations of SWs: on the north end of the stroll in the Ontario to Castor area, particularly on the Castor and Ontario corners themselves and several corners just north and south of each, in the Somerset area and in the vicinity of the Woodshed, and at and in the vicinity the Huntingdon subway station (there are usually, but not always, one or 2 lurking on the block of Letterly off the K; they used to hang around the laundromat at the corner of Letterly and K, but I haven't seen any there for quite a few months now). Some of you may have a problem with all this specific information as alerting LE, but I beg to differ. All of this has been posted in here before in one way or another and it is nothing of which LE isn't already very well aware, trust me. I don't mean to taunt LE; you fellows and gals do a fine job of protecting us from the real criminals who harm us, and rob and destroy our property, and I heartily commend you for putting yourself in harm's way to do that. But even if LE chooses to lock down these locations, there is enough territory on the K to open up shop in a dozen more. I could have gathered the intel I have shared as an observant civilian in a one day investigation of K. However, BE CAREFUL how you pick up a SW. That is a whole separate issue of common sense and safety.

I will say that giving a little more is not always a bad thing. I am too old and too neurotic to do car dates. So my dates though they may only require 15 minutes of work will require some time getting to a indoor spot and back. I have just returned from a long vacation, but oh what a return it was!
