Best place to get a "burner" nowadays?

I have been participating in the hobby very irregularly the past several years but want to try to start getting more regular FBSMs and maybe try different providers / some of the less sure thing Craigslist posts in hopes a finding a good UTR, etc. I haven't had a prepaid burner in probably close to a decade. If I recall, I got it at a radio shack and was able to pay cash and give a fake name.

What's the easiest / best place to get one nowadays with cash only and no ID?

Activated it with no problems and no real name needed. I think I had to use one of my fake email accounts as part of activation. I use free Proton Mail for email and their VPN for this hobby and watching porn, etc.

Unless you never make reach outs at your residence, it seems like LEO can find the location where comms were made. So is it really that much better than a Google Voice or something else free? To make it harder for LEO, you'd have to be regularly swapping out phones and costs add up. Really curious to learn more as I really don't know too much about this. TYIA.

It then gets shut off until next time. It does give me some peace of mind when arranging a piece of ass. All I'm left having to explain to the SO is the phone itself, which is, of course, a cheap emergency backup in case my old regular phone goes tits up. I made myself learn about surveillance techniques and phone vulnerabilities and agree it is unlikely someone is going to make the effort to track you in real-time. What I cannot believe is how some of these guys used their personal phones with that big escort service that got busted. The burner is a layer of isolation that can be tossed into a dumpster as needed.

Tracfone is changing its pricing. Of interest to people who use their phone infrequently, the $19.99 card with 90 days of service is going away. A $24.99 card with slightly more minutes replaces it. The $99 card for 365 days is still there.

Phones and service cards can be found at Target, Walmart, Bestbuy. Service cards can be found at supermarkets, dollar stores etc.

If my main goal is privacy from wife, I would not use a burner bc it's a physical object that can be found. Here's how I'd use my own phone: Download Duck Duck Go app and optimize privacy settings. Use that to create a gmail account and google voice account (grab a temp text number online to complete initial Voice set up). Obv use a pseudonym. Conduct business via texting using Voice app only- NEVER use real phone number or text from your regular messaging apps, never use real name. Use Proton mail for all meaningful emails such as references etc. Pay cash only, never CashApp or Venmo etc. Never leave Duck Duck go open on phone. Never add contacts or save files.
