Keep getting the noted 502 bad gateway trying to log in on several browsers past 2 days but finally got in on duck duck go but not convenient.Me too, tried another phone that is also mine from same company and got in??

Inconvenient, yeah. But beats the option of not having this information!

Don't know what you got till you lose it.

It works on google chrome on my office computer (I have my own business so don't worry) but not on my Iphone on Safari.

Since I am on computers all day long, I don't keep one in my home.

This happens whenever the site loads using "https: instead of "http: If you change the URL back to using "http: voila the site loads again. It seems like this is happening automatically on Apple browsers.

Duck Duck Go quit working for me today.Alright so I did some more testing.

For PC, Chrome, Edge, Firefox does NOT work. DuckDuckGo works.

For iPad, DuckDuckGo and Safari does NOT work. Chrome works.

As a side note, I saw the gateway error briefly (initially) when using DuckDuckGo on the PC, somehow that went away and never seen it again (knock on wood)

The only way I can access this site is by using a VPN and Brave with Tor, and even then it hit or miss.

Same problem here on pc can't login on edge, or duck duck now. Only one I can get on is chrome. Have tried to change to the http on duck duck but it doesn't seem to want to change it for some reason.

Did some digging. A simple AI summarizes what's going on.

Tl; dr. It's not you, it's them.

——-.

A **502 Bad Gateway error** occurs when a server acting as a gateway or proxy receives an invalid response from an upstream server it needed to access while trying to fulfill your request. In simpler terms, this means there's a communication breakdown between servers on the internet, usually not because of a problem with your computer or connection, but with the website or its hosting infrastructure.

Common Causes of 502 Bad Gateway Errors:

- Server Overload: The web server may become overwhelmed with too many requests or run out of resources like memory, which is common during spikes in traffic or as a result of a DDoS attack.

- Network Issues: Connectivity problems between servers or on the broader internet can disrupt server communication, causing invalid or incomplete responses.

- Server Misconfiguration or Bugs: Incorrect server settings, outdated software, or programming errors can prevent servers from understanding each other's responses.

- DNS Problems: If recent DNS changes have not fully propagated or DNS settings are misconfigured, servers may not be able to reach each other, leading to the error.

- Firewall or Security Blocks: Overly strict or misconfigured security tools, such as firewalls, may mistakenly block legitimate requests or responses.

- Browser or Cache Issues: Sometimes, outdated or corrupted files in your browser cache or cookies can interfere with receiving valid responses (although this is less common).

Summary.

A 502 error is a server-side error signaling that something went wrong when two or more online servers tried to communicate. The underlying cause is often temporary and usually resolved by the website's administrators or hosting provider, not by the end user.

I'm using Firefox on a PC and I found a solution that works for me. Just update your bookmark for this site from www.usasexguide.nl to http://www.usasexguide.nl.Thank you very much! I concur this method works in Firefox for PC if you manually switch to http. I suspect something wonky with the SSL certificate.

DuckDuckGo WAS working on the PC yesterday but that stopped today.

Chrome still works on iPad. Not sure on iPhone.

As a side note since everything is going via http and not https, nothing is secured. I suggest changing your password when the admin fixes the server side issue.

Extreme thanks! This worked for me as well.

This also worked on my Samsung phone using Firefox.I found the same thing works for me also. I use Firefox to load the main page, then I'm able to load my bookmarks fine.

I know the site has problems with attacks a while ago, and they started using cloudfare or something similar to fix it. Hopefully they find a similar solution soon. Because I'd bet most people aren't troubleshooting deep enough to find solutions like the Firefox workaround.

I access this site mostly via my shitty Windows PC with the Edge browser, but on occasion I would like access it via my iPhone with the Safari browser. To access the site via Windows Edge, I need to use the HTTP not secure connection. I don't understand why that is, but I have lived with it. To keep Edge from automatically doing a redirect to HTTPS, I did recently need to turn off this Edge browser security setting: "Automatically switch to more secure connections with Automatic HTTPS". For security, I would prefer not to do this so If someone knows of a better solution let me know.

As for my iPhone safari browser, it looks like one of Apple's recent updates started triggering the 502 Bad Gateway issue. It now appears to me that Safari is redirecting all HTTP connections to HTTPs. Anyone know of a setting to turn this feature off on Safari?

Just curious also, does anyone access this site via an HTTPS connection and with what browser? Thanks.

I'm not 100% sure on the iPhone but I suspect it's similar to iPad. Safari doesn't work for me but Chrome works fine without https.

And agreed, you wouldn't want to login without https. I'm definitely planning on changing my password when https is working again.

I fully type the link as http://usasexguide.nl. However, if I use auto-fill when typing, make it a bookmark, or click on this link while on my iPhone, they all fail with Bad Gateway. All those attempts want to redirect to https. Not sure why the site does not seem to support https. Maybe has to do with all the DDOS attacks.

Trying to dig into it some more (on the server side) The SSL checks are mostly good with the exception of TLS (server is supporting 1. 1) so I'm going to put a wild guess that most newer browsers are now flat out rejecting this due to its known security vulnerabilities

I'm going to guess if the server disable TLS 1. 1 (since it does support 1. 3) it should be good. Still not sure the root cause as it's been working OK till recently.

I had no issues using Firefox on my Windows PC, but after a discussion with a local, I went through some steps to trigger this problem for myself in Chrome (on Windows and Android). Ultimately, came to the conclusion a VPN worked for Chrome sometimes. However, I revisited one of the ideas I had searched earlier and there is a much simpler way of dealing with it on both Windows and Android Chrome (can't and won't test on IOS).

https://www.chromium.org/Home/chromium-security/deprecating-powerful-features-on-insecure-origins/

Basically use this flag.

chrome://flags/#unsafely-treat-insecure-origin-as-secure

Relaunch browser after changing this and then directly enter http://www.usasexguide.nl . Without doing both of these steps, at least on my device, Chrome will add the http s part and even when you remove the 's', it will continue to re-add it again and again. Likely the reason my past attempts failed at making it work earlier.

And while I have no particular reason to check all browsers, I do have Edge so checked it there since it is also Chromium behind the scenes and the same process works (just use edge://flags/ instead).

This worked for me, Thanks! Was using duckduckgo in the interim.Glad it helped someone. Actually one of the biggest problems with this is the fact that if the solution is here. It requires someone to successfully make it through the errors at least once. And a lot of people are understandably asking their individual local boards.

But like if someone never got through in the first place, they won't see how to solve this. I'm thinking back to my own local boards, is it quiet now because there's no one interesting to post about, or is it quiet because the prominent posters don't know how to get back?

And I agree with the fellow who said that, once the SSL certificate issue is fixed, I'll be changing my password.

They MUST be aware of the issue, there's just no way they're NOT aware of this. Especially the amount of visitors that still can't get in. One look at their traffic report should tell them something's wrong.

Obviously there's no error if users aren't going via HTTPS.

As I suspect before, the issue is due to server accepting TLS 1. 1 which was released back in 2006 and almost all new browsers will no longer accept this due to security concerns. If they disable TLS 1. 1 on the server, it *should* fix the issue. Not 100% on this but that's what I would try first.

The lack of SSL / HTTPS is suspicious. I'm not a security expert but the lack of encryption means the whole site could be spoofed or cloned or the traffic could be exploited by a man in the middle attack.

I'm not worried about my personal stakes but this community is vulnerable. We are going to wake up one day and it's just going to be gone.

Then, what will we do?

Then, what will we do?I belive you are correct. There is no easy way to assure access and most browsers are forcing HTTPS use even if HTTP is entered. The vast majority of users don't have the ability to find work arounds and eventually even those workarounds will quit working. Postings on boards have really dropped off and just about every contact I had has vanished or when reached through another method can't view the site. Everything went HTTPS long ago and it's not difficult but seems to be lost here.

All the BS ads on this site. Traffic is WAY WAY WAY down, active logins are available and it is no where near what it was. Advertisers will not continue to pay like they have for a fraction of the viewers. Frankly, the fact they have not fixed it is very concerning. I have not been on ANY website in many years where HTTPS was not available. Questions motives, questions the validity of the website, questions if outside forces have taken over, especially when there this is NOT ANY OBVIOUS announcement to be found on the site. There should be some big bold link everywhere that takes you to an explanation and the current status, but there is not. Again, raising some big red flags.

I know they could give a shit care less, but I will not be returning until it is back to normal and I am sure I am not the only one.

Thanks. Can't access the forum via HTTPS, even though the site seems to have a configured certificate. Seems like this all cropped up after the DDOS attacks as reported earlier here.

Hopefully, this gets resolved.

Notice a tremendous decline in activity and Forum Members on line! Hurts our ability to share information! I'm sure Admin can solve this problem?

Folks. Use Firefox. Type in http: at the start and you are fine without issue.

This is an ongoing, mounting issue, and not the type of mounting I enjoy.

For the past couple of years, you can't load the site on Google Chrome and receive the 502 Bad Gateway. Angie message instead! It was never repaired by admin. So I was using Microsoft Edge. Now it stopped loading on Edge. Same 502 Angie message. I have a virus packaged browser that doesn't work either. Firefox is the only remaining browser that works, but soon that will probably go down as well!

Good news is you no longer get the bad gateway error when using HTTPS. Yay!

Bad news is the formatting are all jacked up when you're using HTTPS (basically I had to revert back to http) to view the site properly.

We're getting there. Making progress.

I know http did fix other issues from a month ago or so with the 502 bad gateway message. The fix could be have the traffic hit an AWS load balancer, which can take https traffic but it communicates back and forth between the server and load balancer just with http. So the web server doesn't have to deal with https at all, which apparently it struggles with. And yes the site has some tech debt and could use a refresh, but it's not a trivial undertaking at all.

Looks like new SSL cert by Sectigo (seems like a lot of domains are switching to this new provider).

Anyway now that we're secured again, make sure to change your password just in case.

I'm getting repeated site crashes, even during the day.

I think the solution last time was that captcha thing where you have to click on a little checkbox, I think that may have to be reinstated again temporarily.
