You go up to the room, knock on the door. The door opens, but you don't see the girl, she is behind the door. Your assumption is that they are behind the door so that no one in the hall, like another guest or hotel security will see them and come to the conclusion that there is funny business going on. We accept this and walk in, and the door closes behind us.
Now with the Asian apartments I've been to, and the few hotels as well, the worst that's ever happened to me is that the provider is not what was expected, even with the lights dimmed. But if its a robbery situation? The door closed, she's standing in front of it, requiring you to physically grab her and throw her out of the way.
