On my normal hunts, I will give the game an extra 15-20 minutes but since this particular pair were highly recommended and I drove an hour, I waited a little longer to see if they would emerge. Silence (notice a pattern here? At 40 minutes past the arranged time, I gave up this hunting session and moved on. One of the does wandered out about 4 hr later and apologized but this hunter was not consoled as he had wasted gas and 3 hrs of his time to come up empty handed. In the hunting game, we run across some very productive spots but we cannot control the wildlife as they are unpredictable. Especially if there is a pull toward a clover patch that controls their pattern of life.

Let me start this hunting story by saying I am sure these two are great and that I appreciate my fellow brothers / hunters with providing me access to this hunting spot but one thing we cannot control is the wildlife. This is merely a data point.

My hunting trip starts with a fellow hunter contacting the two does in question and making introductions (many thanks). Tales of their performance are legendary so I make arrangements to hunt this particular spot and the 2 does agreed to a meeting time. As usual, I get into the appointed hunting spot at the appointed time but had lost contact with the prey about an hour out (about the same time I had to leave for the 55 min drive to the hunting spot). As we had agreed to earlier, I let the does know when I was 15 minutes from their location. Silence. At the appointed time, I try to get their attention. Silence. On my normal hunts, I will give the game an extra 15-20 minutes but since this particular pair were highly recommended and I drove an hour, I waited a little longer to see if they would emerge. Silence (notice a pattern here? At 40 minutes past the arranged time, I gave up this hunting session and moved on. One of the does wandered out about 4 hr later and apologized but this hunter was not consoled as he had wasted gas and 3 hrs of his time to come up empty handed. In the hunting game, we run across some very productive spots but we cannot control the wildlife as they are unpredictable. Especially if there is a pull toward a clover patch that controls their pattern of life.

I've been working on heading a trip up to Richmond and have been checking out their boards and found the following regarding someone getting the burn up there. Thanks to Salty I was able to visit with Hailey on my trip into town a few days ago. I too was able to see Shay last week and had a great time. She was staying in W OV and I arrived a little early but it was no problem as I was her first for the day.
