I lived in Downey for 24 years. It's been a while since I moved elsewhere, and it's not close to me anymore so I rarely go to Downey anymore. Yes, it's mostly white and Hispanic, but it does have 4 or 5 AMPs that have all been around and thriving for 30 years or more. Some of them have progressed to being all Asian to a mix of Asian and Latina. I've heard that ownership of a couple of them may have changed. But most of the MPs in town have been around for years and they've always been reliable.

The more prominent ones are Downey a massage on Paramount, M&A on Firestone, and All Seasons on Telegraph. Those are the old timers that have been around forever. There's also Ocean Spa on Lakewood which is a newer and smaller one with Chinese girls, and there's Havana which was a hot place for a while but kind of went downhill, and there's a smattering of others that have come and gone. At any given time I don't recall any less than 6 MPs open in town. My go to was Downey Massage which I lived within walking distance of. Actually it was two places. Or down in San Diego on Convoy street. I suspect that the legit cities have "decent citizens" who don't want any seemly activities going on, so their police department cracks down. But by the same token, when the cops pull you over in HB they treat you pretty good too. So its kind of an overall climate of being a good area or a bad area.
