SW Luvah...As a fellow "Bluff Ridah" I got to say that this is not exactly the "cream of the crop", but preciate the effort!
You know there's times I've met women (SW and regular meeting women) and when we're getting it on or making out or whatever they look good, but after its said and done or I see a pic, I'm like wtf did I just do. It's sort of like beer googles, but when little head thinks, you don't see as good LOL I agree with you, what the hell are you guys thinking, but we've all been there, one time or another.

So where exactly IS *the Bluff*? I always thought it was that area just south of Bankhead and west of Northside. Does it go all the way to AUC?
Dangerous area! I had to drive through that area from time to time a few years ago. Always got the evil eye from the ubiquitous thugs on the street.

Is it dangerous because actually you saw something bad happen on your way through there? Or was it the absence of toothy smiles and clown suits...

Just seeking clarification...because ALL SW areas around the country seem to attract particularly downtrodden people who don't generally wear smiles on their faces all year round; this is why I wondered what it was that made you single out AUC as a "dangerous" area with "thugs" and such. I had not yet made an implication - I just wanted details. I question ANY post that has subjective language. If I reported that "I had a good time with so and so" with no further details, wouldn't you have questions for me?

The Bluff is kind of relative. Mostly if you "know" the area it's Simpson Rd. and the surrounding blocks past Northside Dr. Bankhead on the North and Simpson on the South. Vine City (Simpson to MLK) and the AUC (MLK to Fair St.) also get lumped in sometimes. But this is the area between Northside and let's say Chappel or W. Lake Ave.

Re. the Bluff and relative danger - from my understanding, the Bluff, or at least the area just west of where North crosses Northside (aka "Nono") is several notches above the other SW areas in danger. During the time I was passing through there (a number of years ago to be sure), the streets were thick with drug runners and thugs. So thick it was challenging to even move your car through there because there were so many of these guys hanging IN the streets, all of them making it there business to check me out, sometimes to the point of standing in front of my vehicle.

I stopped at the BP on MLK and Jo- Lowery. I stood there pumping gas and was approached by several guys. As I stood there I had my gun wrapped in a black plastic bag while being firmly held in my hand.
I pretty much think they got the picture. (the goons) I was robbed and carjacked before in Memphis (Two separate occasions)when I lived there.I don't go looking for trouble but now I'm just very cautious of my surroundings.
