Motels vs Private Residences

RE: Hotels. In my area there was a dude who was promoting girls on line. Yeah, post FOSTA / SESTA the dude had a website and all. Anyway a link got posted at that time to the affidavit that LE filed in support of a search warrant. (wish I could still find that link) But a read of the affidavit was quite telling on "techniques" and methods used. Dude was set up in a B / C grade hotel, rented the exact same room every week day.
In order to bust the the dude, LE conducted surveillance. One could read about the days / dates that some of the surveillance was conducted. So I guess if mongers had gone to the motel early, done a bit of recon ahead of time, they might have seen the surveillance? After all, LE needs to be "in line of sight" of the action, no? Isn't recon one of "the rules?
Next, because LE was limited in resources, they set up a camera on a nearby pole aimed at the room where the dates were happening. Yeah, seems like we slip further & further into 1984 or The Matrix as time goes by. From that pole cam LE was able to record dudes coming & going into the room. And oh, wouldn't you know it most all of the dudes parked right in front of the room, so their ass-end was pointing directly at the cameras and their license plate in full view! (Point is in nearby states (2) there are no front plates!) So as things "went down" with LE, several mongers got telephone calls at their home numbers, obtained from a DMV search. Only ONE monger reported to me that he had parked at a business nearby and walked to the room, so his plate probably wasn't captured by the cams.
(Along this line: what is anyone doing "boxing them self in" by pulling into a parking space? I was always taught to park headed out or in a way that can't be boxed in! I dated a girl at a motel once and had the option of pulling into a space in front of her room, took instead the option to park in a space that was parallel to the flow of traffic. Turned out to be a good decision as half way through the date the pimp showed up and I needed to get out of there fast. IF I had pulled in, when the dude tried to box me in, he would have been successful!
Then talk about surveillance, the dude running this operation, "for safety reasons" had a go pro camera set up in the room recording the date! Girl had to give a signal at some point that she was OK, as the dude was watching from his car outside and if she didn't signal he would rush in. But the key is that the dude was dumb enough to hold onto EVERY video he ever took! This is known as he was messing with an under-aged girl, who asked him via FB texting to delete the videos he took of them having sex and he stated something like "I can't delete my past!" Reports are that the dude had 2- 3 mega hard drives in his house to store all of his vids, pictures, etc. ! So again, another reason to be aware of one's surroundings!
Oh and private residences are no "sure thing" either. I tried a girl who was in a bungalow behind a main house. Went in to LR and she wanted to date there. Wasn't too long into proceedings that some dude jumped out from the shadows of the DR and caused a scene. Have dated in Apartments where I am sure there was someone else hiding in the bathroom or another bedroom. That of course is not my preference as it presents risks as well.
But residences pose another risk. With dudes coming & going all of the time neighbors are sure to take notice. This kind of activity is often interpreted as drug activity and gets reported fast and gets the immediate attention of LE. Dated a girl who I picked up for my dates, but eventually she got herself set up with a roomie (female) in a house. Sure enough the comings & going were reported to LE as suspected drug trafficking. Would have hated to be the monger who was [I] in flagrante delicto[/I] when LE made their raid on the place!
But hey, this is a risky hobby and everyone is free to evaluate the risks, take risk reducing measures and make their own decisions on dating! Me? I have settled into a style where I meet a new girl in public. Fast cash or rip-off artists usually won't do that. From there I often take the girl to a place of my choosing. For me it all comes down to control of the situation. Where does the power lie? I have it initially because she wants something I have. I can choose to use that to my advantage or give it up to her.
