In Illinois a person is no longer a minor once they reach the age of 17. But if a person is not from Illinois or was brought across state lines then that might be void.

Prosecutors don't like to lose. It's a lower level misdemeanor and probation if convicted. The defense attorneys will make money but what about CROOK County? Making these citations and impounding your vehicle does two things. The prosecuting becomes much easier for them, as reasonable doubt flies out the window. Judge only needs to believe the cop and make their judgement. There isn't much you can do to fight it, unless you want to spend a lot of time and money. The second thing, is the fines are ridiculously high. They know most folks will pay it and not fight.

The people running the state are desperate for money, anyway they can get it. If they can get over the moral stigma not tainting reputation of the politicians that propose this and they can tax the hell out of this, legalization will happen eventually. As more boomers pass, the stigma gets less and less. Just think about this, 20 years ago folks were going to jail for weed.

When I got busted in a sting the death blow to me was having my mug shot posted on the local news and news paper for 3 days straight. That destroyed my life and to this day, 4 years later still does as a simple google search brings it up. Although I still beat a criminal conviction, you know the old saying of guilty in the court of public opinion. My attorney gave me a huge lesson in the why, but also some of the dirty tricks cops use. Their intent is to destroy a guys life, very rarely do they prosecute the girl selling, unless they have seen her a few times before.

Yes, their goal is to bust guys and make an example of them, as the court of public opinion then thinks the police and prosecutors are really doing "something". Making a county / municipal citation (same level is a disorderly conduct, minor in possession of alcohol, etc) makes it easier to prosecute, because since it's a ticket the majority of the people just pay the huge fine (not going to court). They still get to parade the dudes around but less court hassle and more money.

The double standard in prosecuting these poor women vs the dudes is despicable. There is a growing double standard with SW rights where they are protected and the dudes not so much.

Funny enough, Ruby´s friend Sarah sweet cheeks told me she'd have to take care of the Schaumburg Chief when she would visit.
