The Guidelines. And the violators
The guidelines to successful mongering has been developed through the experiences of hundreds of mongers curated through thousands of appointments. There's a reason, "Don't give deposits" and "Don't send copies of your ID" is repeated over and over again. These are not arbitrary. These guidelines were paid for by the bad experiences of mongers past.
I don't know if that identification belongs to a board member. But if it was, I find it difficult to feel bad for someone who willfully ignored the guidelines.
As for a provider who violates the rule of discretion as revenge for a NCNS, she needs to be put out of business. There are better, more equitable ways of handling it. Posting the identification card was overkill. If the card belonged to someone else, then it's criminal. She potentially ruined a guy's reputation for nothing; both her and the guy who actually NCNS should be held accountable.
We don't know for sure who setup the appointment, but we certainly know for sure who posted the card. She made her bed, I hope she lies in it, alone, without a single paying customer ever again.
This is extremely well-written and totally accurate. It is given even greater profundity by being followed immediately by a new monger posting about being ripped off after sending a deposit to what he thought was a trusted provider. He broke the rule and paid the price. To build on D Nut's words, the guidelines are being paid for over and over again by members here who think they can ignore them "just this once" and not pay a price. If people paid attention - especially to the word NEVER - we would be not seeing such posts.
BAM.
