Know what is available online
Get tested routinely (online is mostly fine for testing). But nothing is 100% safe in this hobby. Take precautions based on your personal risk tolerance. But if you need treatment, go see a doctor or go to a clinic.
Most of us probably already know this, but it is important. Amazon has some test kits where you collect sample at home, send to lab, and then get results online in less than a week. Not appropriate if it already burns when you piss. Costs about $200 to test for Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, HIV (I, II, P24 antigen), Syphilis, Mycoplasma, Ureaplasma, Trichomoniasis, and Gardnerella (Bacterial Vaginosis). In some cases, treatment is included in the price for the testing (I don't know details). The one I'm looking at now is by "Let's Get Checked. ".
Less complete tests are less expensive. Some tests do everything at home.
