It's been shaping up to be a [b]hot, humid day[/b] today. Best to stay indoors, where the AC is running. In fact, I was down in the city just a while earlier and decided I needed to step into one of DC's many establishments to cool off a spell.

You walk in without buzzing in which is a bit weird and the ladies were in an office so I could have just walked around to my heart's content. So that was a weird thing.

A white girl with reddish hair greeted me and, while she was attractive, she was not my style so I asked for a Hispanic woman and got Kathy. Older but very fit and attractive and friendly. 1.5 instead of the usual 1 like at an AMP but still pretty good. Great massage too.

You're not rushed there which is nice. The room I got was big with an adjoining room with a shower which was nice so I could shower off afterwards as well.

2nd day I got another Hispanic woman and it was even better in some ways.

The place has a room with a hot tub but it was busy at the time I arrived. I called first the second time which is probably a smart thing.- I don't think the ladies stay on site but are rather "called into service" when you get there.

Eventually my Asian Fever will kick back, but for now I'm intrigued by this place and will repeat.

I'm headed to DC this week from the Midwest...staying near Dupont Circle. I have searched the thread and know there are some massage opportunities near there, but I don't see enough specifics to know where or contact information. Would appreciate a bit more help.

I had a similar experience. Visited this historic spot recently trying to recount times of old. The decor is just a little bit nicer than before. Asked MMS to see the menu and she responded that she would send me a very nice girl. Nana presented herself and was indeed quite suitable. All the same, she asked if she was OK or if I wanted to see another provider. I told her she would be fine for me and it was off to the races. Nana is indeed very good at what she does, standard services for this place but prices are up. 0.8 for house and asking 1.4 for FS. No negotiations on the house but settled on 1.2 for her fee. Good time was had especially from the back view. Didn't see any others there but I did hear some chit chat in K language. Saw 4 or 5 pairs of sexy heels outside one of the doors. This historic spot is back! Prices are up but services are as they used to be.

I went to downtown last week.

Was charged $80 for the hour as well.

Went star gazing on Saturday. It was my first time at this location, so maybe they were just trying to get a feel for things, but it was ome of the most lackluster experiences I've had in the game. Called ahead, asked for Suzie, MMS said she was out, but that she would set me up. I get there in the late afternoon, right before the craziness of the pride parade starts. MMS takes 0.8

Drew Coco, beautiful, petite, about 5' even. She seemed friendly but tired. Had a nice TS, and moved into the room. We start talking business, and I was surprised that she laid out exactly what was on the menu. I must admit I'm accustomed to dealing in euphemisms.

I wanted to try FS, but like an idiot I was 0.2 short. I end up agreeing on linguistic practice. The massage starts, and I have to say, it was AWFUL. No lotion or oil, just dry skin, and she really didn't seem to know even remotely what she was doing. It only lasted about 5 min, but she managed to legitimately screw up my neck in that time. She kept trying to massage the base of my skull and ended up pinching a nerve. It still hurts as I write. I think I'm going to have to find a REAL masseuse just to undo the damage this one did.

Anyway, after the massage out comes the cover. Very lackluster effort in that regard too. Additionally she was adamant about staying fully garbed the whole time. Apparently seeing her whole body was only for FS. I end up finishing up despite the lack of effort, and she spends the last 10 minutes just sort of hanging around in a semifriendly way. I guess she felt a little too comfortable, because she had the nerve to call me fat. Twice! I walk out with my most basic needs met, but neither satisfied or relaxed. Not worth the money. I feel swindled.

I don't think that's what people are saying. The pricing is the same. Nana is just trying to rip people off. She tried to do the same thing to me when I saw her at Gold years ago which is why she kept getting fired from different places and also why everytime I saw her at another establishment I asked for a different girl.

When I saw Nana at DuPont she said the same thing, house fee is .8. I laid my usual $ tip on the table and that was that. Vermont (NOT Downtown any more) charges .8 for an hour.

Many places in Maryland charge .7, and in NOVA it is .8 for an hour.

I have mixed feelings. On the one hand, these rates have not changed in the twenty years I have been hobbying here. Name me other services that have done that. Even $1.2 for a tip is less than in other places, like Dallas or Honolulu.

OTOH, I am told by girls working that business is slow. That has to be an effect of the recession. Not the time to raise prices.

The fluctuation of the dollar against Korean currency plays into how much that tip is worth to many of the providers, too. I do not know what that is, but when the dollar was weak I heard complaints.

Let's see what happens.

Nana definitely ripped me off the first time I saw her, way back when I was new at this. She's not the only one who did or tried to. After I learned the going rates, I just said "no" to these girls, and that was that. Basically they'll take you for what they can get. I don't take that personally.

I'm not surprised the house rates are going up. Not thrilled about it, but as someone else said, they haven't gone up in years and years so it's probably about time. Renting in DC is expensive.

As for the tip, well, I have a lot less sympathy there. One customer a day gets them 3K a month, and you know even in slow times they probably get more than one a day. If they want to demand more, then I'm more than happy to go for the Nova-style treatment instead. At least the massagi is better in nova.

Your comment about Nana getting fired is interesting. I remember talking with Young at 14K once and she kept saying "I *hate* her" about Nana, so I suspect there were other issues. I don't really care though, I like her anyway.

I'm sincerely NOT trying to simply be proven right here, but I've been telling all of you for some time now that increases in fees would happen. Whether you like it or not. Especially considering the higher fees everyone ELSE in the country have been paying for quite a few years now.

You need to be prepared to pay to play, or go the hell home. Again, no harm meant but it's as simple as that. I'm not made of money either but I DO understand simple economics. And as much as some on this board may complain about said economics, it doesn't CHANGE them, simply, and mainly, for the reason that, you are unable to CONTROL them. You want it? You pay. Or, you go home empty (or should I say full) handed. It's as simple as that. While we may have some very limited control over this, people who want the service will pay the price. We do not control this...THEY do. The sooner you understand that fact, the less disgruntled you'll be. Life's too short to be pissed and stressed over $20. Especially when the choice is on you to partake of the service and spend it or not.

Hard economic times are the best time to do this, from their perspective. There are fewer of them due to numerous factors (less business, less competition due to increased 'outside' pressure, etc). The clientele has shrunk somewhat due to the economy, however, they're still there, and there's fewer providers in business. Other localities are charging more and they have similar challenges. If you raise your rates, yes, you'll loose SOME clientele in the short term, however, you'll set a new standard for the area. And, as long as the price is on par with other areas and the service stays up to par, they'll come. And you KNOW they will...

Even the independents have increased their rates. Take a look around. Really. Show me one less than $$(minimum)-$$.5 and I'm telling you, she won't even come nowhere close to meeting most spa quality providers...she's probably a skank...fat, worn out, unattractive, or so trifling and unprofessional, you wouldn't want to deal with her. Not all...but most.

However, there are other, more inexpensive alternatives, should you decide the bar is set too high for your usual entertainment...note the fat, worn out unattractive, trifling, unprofessional skank mentioned above.

I never understood why certain posters here continue to stubbornly insist the quality of girls correlates to anything else other than the money. My motto was to treat $160 as the minimum, not the maximum. I can agree with that. If the service is not there (and I believe I said that in my post), then reject the provider. With increased rates, the ones that are not providing decent service will drop off. That's the spa's concession for the increased fee. They'll weed those out and make sure the caliber of provider is top notch, or word will get around and their clientele will decrease. They'll soon figure out why and eliminate the problem for you so you don't have to reject her at the door.

Sounds a lot like the hype over health care nowadays.

I believe it is a completely misguided statement to say that Washington, DC has the best AMP scene in the nation as Mr. Nuke has affirmed. There are many places which are much better. Honolulu comes to mind.

With respect to prices, it comes back to simple economics. Supply and demand. Mongers live on the demand side and providers live on the supply side. Increase supply relative to demand (or decrease demand relative to supply) and the two oppositely sloping curves will intersect at a lower price point. It's that simple. Just as with any other good or service.

I saw Nana 7 times when she used to work at 14K back in 2007 and she never tried to rip me off - there must be some other reason to it . I actually find her to be very friendly and accomodating . The prices of these locations are fine. The average household income in the D.C. area is way above the national average and way above the threshold required to keep these places running. The problem with the scene in D.C. is blatant mismanagement. The simple fact of the matter is the scene is getting too old, too fast. Every year that passes it is harder and harder to find decent therapists below even 35 years old. I feel like people in D.C. don't really fight against this trend but instead adopt a "well, it's good to have an [i]experienced[/i] provider" or "older women provide better service" attitude. Why is it spas near Woodbridge or spas near Baltimore can get younger therapists? Why are all the younger therapists in D.C. run off? The more young providers that take off the worse things get as the few that remain get overworked and underpaid relative to their increasing demand.

There isn't even a location where you pay exorbitantly high rates to see young therapists for a TAMP session in this entire city. The closest you come are some escort services that continue to be miscategorized as 'massage parlors' or Vermont (a location that has a ton of old therapists now). That's shockingly sad.

Yes, there are two Nanas. Both are great. There is tall skinny bubbly Nana at Dupont, and thicker athletic Nana at Green.

I think I gave the wrong impression earlier. When I was new at this, the ladies could tell and many of them quoted higher prices to me as a result. Now I just pay the going rate without asking and I have rarely had to haggle. The moral of the story is to know the rates in advance -- asking for prices is like saying "please rob me".

Try calling first instead of just walking in. They try to fly under the radar and just walking up can get you in hot water with the owner. If you bust in asking about massage, you pretty much come off looking like LE. I tried the walk in approach my first time, and barely made it in, and even then, the girl asked if I was a cop.

It's possible the buzz lately on the board here (and maybe other places with the situation in town) has caused their business to shoot up with new clients as of late. That'll just make the owner (the older woman you saw) more suspicious. If you've blown it a couple times, you might have trouble getting in a third time if you're on her sh*t list now.

I say give it a couple days to cool off, then call and set an appt. if you want to go again. It's much smoother that way.

Rates at the Circle are indeed .6 for half .8 for whole...plus 1.2-1.4 tip.

The ladies there are claiming that's what everywhere charges now, but, just because that's what they say doesn't make it true. News to me that the stellar place nearby has hiked it's door fee...but, other places are still standard fare.

For what it's worth, I realy don't think it is the girls upselling, it's the rates they're instructed to quote and collect.

I don't entirely disagree with Rejected Monke. You should have a bit extra on hand for superstars...but not to be given up front. This is not the time to increase the base rates though.

To review recent history, the place in Adams Morgan tried to raise the rates...they failed. The flowery place on M tried to raise the fees...they failed. The only way the place near the circle will succeed at that is if every lady there is a superstar...and provides a level of therapy to match.
