But it's still the case that most of the rates are too high, and at some point, providers will need to lower them. And for hobbyists who are hurting financially, that is another reason for providers to lower their rates.

I feel like saving a little money wouldn't be worth the potential for lower enthusiasm from the provider who might feel bitter for giving me a lower rate.

I don't feel like I want to low ball with a provider, for them to accept begrudgingly, and to have that effect how the session goes. There are plenty of providers that are in my price range, so I will move on to one of them.

True, a car won't work differently based on the price one pays for it. But you'd be stupid not to try and negotiate a lower price, especially in these times. And not all providers will give you a bad session even after you ask for a discount.

Also, yes, low balling a provider is not wise. But my request was not really "low balling", per se. And yes, there is enough variety to go around.
