The rooms in the back ensure privacy and generally speaking the providers know their work.
Had an itch Friday and called Shawsheen and RR in Bedford several times with no answer. I've never been to either place. From recent posts, was expecting a solo operator at both. So sure, they could have been busy and not answer one call here or there. But every other place I've been, no one ever lets the phone ring unanswered more than once. Given that it was the same at two places, it got me thinking, is everything ok in Bedford these days?
Yesterday the Bedford police went to each Bodywork business located in Bedford and ordered them to stop business immediately as of yesterday. This was done per order of the Town of Bedford. They told each business they do not have to honor their lease and to stop paying rent and they would contact each landlord directly. There is plenty to be debated here no doubt.
Come November Arlington will impose their new town controlled requirements for Bodywork and now Bedford has taken a sledge hammer approach. Things are changing!

Things are changing![/QUOTE]I would find it interesting to learn on what basis the local PD would have the authority to tell a licensed business to stop business and to stop paying rent. If these establishments are licensed that would pose an interesting legal issue. If they just passed an ordinance then there is a certain amount of "grandfathered" status they would have.
Is there more to the "order" to explain why they were shut down? No license or Permit?

Things are changing![/QUOTE]I was surprised to see them at the body and soul massage place on middlesex tpk in bedford because it is a massage place in name and not a bodywork and has been around for years and has licenses. What are they going to every place that isn't massage envy LOL?
Too bad as I've had some good massages at both the one on Railroad Ave and the one behind the McDonalds!

According to SS he says the place is LEGIT, THEN WHY did Susan have home base there for years and years the hair salon on Hudson is definitely very selective in who they will provide services the owners make sure of that. Definitely, things are done more covertly at this location. But rest assured when everything is said and done the salon provides similar services.

While similar services are available, not all the providers will go along with it, and 2 pop is long gone.

The craziness at the old ninja / lavender is due to them not leaving the office all day / not allowed at most spots. Same thing occurs at all R. I spots.

I know what some read and believe about 54 Middlesex being a registered ' massage' business. It is NOT despite what the sign or ads might say. To further clarify an owner might have a Mass massage license but may choose for various reasons to not operate business under license and instead operate under Bodywork. It question the legal grounds of what they did yesterday but I am not an attorney. That's the facts as I know them now.

Regarding Bedford, I'm amazed and wonder what legal right they have in doing what they did. I couldn't find anything posted on the town's website if they are going to start regulating bodywork like Arlington & Newton do. To just walk into a place and say you have to close and you can stop paying rent? What about the rent they already paid? Do you really think a landlord is going to give them back the remainder of Septembers rent that they already paid when they can't operate the business anymore? And most, if not all of the owners, will simply throw up their hands and say ok and walk away and not question the legality of what the town is doing. What if a place is legit? Just because they're Asian they're being targeted? We might as well go back to the days when businesses had "NINA" signs posted.
