Sorry if this topic or similar has been discussed elsewhere, but is there any traction to the notion of govt / health officials being able to take our phones or get info from our carriers in order to pinpoint where we have been over the past 2 weeks if we test positive? I've heard some database is being created by google? That will allow text messages to go out to all known people we could have been in contact with via location from or phones (and presume from others phones too)? Or did I hear this wrong? I did hear that some variation of this was used in South Korea where affairs and other illegal activities were discovered as a side effect.
Any legal experts care to weigh in?
Telecom companies can share aggregated data of mobile traffic. They do this already to manage the networks. For virus tracking it's really just sharing how much movement their network is picking up from their customer base, so that part is true. It's anonymous but is an indication of how well the stat at home orders are working. No different than counting cars on the roads via traffic cams.
The other stuff you mentioned screams of privacy infringement and sounds like fake stuff put out there just to stir up the masses.
If you are concerned about being tracked, shut your phone off.

Google location is for private use only also. If you're worried about it you can delete your location history and turn it off. If you test positive for Covid-19 that doesn't mean you give up all your privacy rights.
