Usually when a girl has a client in waiting they will find another to take their place on stage before they go into the room or if time allows (a long line) they dance during the wait and come back. If you get to the first spot you just let others go ahead until she's free. I don't think this was a coordinated scam though. She (and the door guy) didn't manage her time well enough.
