TOFTT -- "International" spa on Ashland
I was feeling the need on my way home from work the other day, and stopped in at one of the newer of the places that keep cropping up on Ashland. Their ads on CL looked promising.
I get there, pay $60 for the hour, and am taken to the room by MiMi, a fairly attractive Korean (I assume) who's age, as usual, is in that ambiguous Asian late-20s to late-30s range.
The place is decent, decorated like every other AMP I've ever been to. I swear there must be some AMP Supply Warehouse somewhere in Ohio that ships all this crap all over the country.
After I get ready, she comes back to the room and tells me to lie down. I ask about the table shower they list in the ad, and she informs me it's $65 for the table shower and 45 minute massage. Weird pricing differential, but okay.
The table shower is nice, she pays attention to the right places, and hands me a comfy robe after the dry down.
Back in the room, she gives a decent massage on the back, including some nice teasing, followed by a hot towel. Same on the flip. And then.
Nothing. I imply; she feigns misunderstanding. I gesture; she pretends not to see what I'm pointing at. I ask; she tells me it's massage only. So okay, I get dressed.
On the way out, after helping me on with my clothes, bringing me water, and being generally sweet, she goes out of her way to tell me again that they only offer a massage. She didn't seem offended, but she was matter-of-fact.
So, that's that. Does anyone know if any of the Ashland Ave. Joints pan out? They're awfully convenient for me, but so far I'm 0 for 2.
Mutual Assured Destruction
Living and working in the city, I'm always a little concerned that I'm going to run into someone I know. With my luck, I'd bump into my father-in-law.
I'm sure it would be awkward (especially with your father-in-law) but think about it... They're there for the same reason you're there. If he tells on you, you can tell on him.
Best case scenario, you've got a new running partner. Worst case scenario, it's your boss or brother-in-law and they've got as much to lose as you do.
