Yes, there are parts of the city that you should avoid for safety reasons, but is not like the media says that we kill each other for sport. Most are minor and you're aware of the big one could happen but don't think too much of it. Same here with crime in the city. We are all aware of it and the big one (murder) could happen to us but most likely a small one (car broken into etc.) is all we will ever experience.
