I haven't been robbed at gunpoint but I recognize that "advances" or "loans" are not going to be repaid, especially from anyone living day-to-day in a hotel and I know that up front and accept it. I took Lake County Leslie shopping, for meals and gave cash a number of times without reciprocity and likely would have continued had she not vanished.

"it might happen to someone else" is an accurate statement, but IMHO its a good practice to walk into every situation like it could be a life or death scenario.
