Well you are not in the downtown neighborhood at all. In fact, you are not even on the correct side of the 110 FWY.
However, my perverted and slightly disturbing friend, you are not totally out of luck.
One way you can handle this situation is to go after the mega hotties that seem to drop in on the Mayfair from the nearby apartments. See, USC is nearby and many of the students live at an apartment building nearby whose name escapes me at the moment. I often see said hotties coming out of the Mayfair late at night. While I can offer no first hand experience, I can rationally conclude that the Mayfair has a bar that these "students" attend on a regular basis, particularly Fri and Sat night.
The other way you can handle it is that the Mayfair is indeed located in a very scummy area. Hence there are a lot of crack ho's on the street. Provided you are a brave soul(its not the safest area), trolling on the streets at night should yield a toothless wonder or two.
As for a car....be careful. You might find something at the Huntington...be really careful of LE.....which is located about 2 miles to the east at 8th and Main, and you are also reasonably close to the Fig track which can be fertile on weekends especially after 1am south of the USC campus.
