It's the result of 50 years of Medicare / Medicaid policies
Last week I went to Rite Aid to get the cost of generic Viagra, sildenafil. Was told cash price for 20 tablets of 100 mg was $900, branded Viagra was $1800. Looked online at my Rx insurance website, saw unbelievable low prices so I had my Dr send over a script to Rite Aid. Got 6 tablets of sildenafil 100 mg for $2. 76. Mindwobbling. Must be the prices the insurance companies negotiate may be based on buying power but this difference is unjust for those without Rx coverage.
I just finished writing a paper on this very topic. This is being addressed, but it's going to be a few years before things start to move in a direction that is more equitable for everyone. Righting 50 years of well intentioned health policy will not happen overnight. Just be careful of buying from copycats overseas, many of these drugs are made in less than sanitary conditions under low quality control environments, so contaminants are common and the dosages are not always consistent from batch to batch (and sometimes even from pill to pill! However, governments overseas do negotiate better prices from Big Pharma, so if you get pills in the manufacturer packaging for Viagra, Cialis or any of the others, they should be safe and the real deal. At a real deal!
Good luck!!
Healthcare costs & out-of-country drugs
I and family members have lived in other countries and so I have some knowledge of their healthcare systems. In the UK, healthcare is primarily public and in Canada, entirely. This is the case in much of the Commonwealth too, quaintly referred to as "the colonies". Prices are managed by the govt -- standardized. Not so here, hence wildly fluctuating prices. This also impacts drug prices. The US is seen as a golden opportunity for profit by int'l pharma because of the open market. Also, legislation is more restrictive for generics here which helps keep prices ascending. When the FTA and then NAFTA were agreed to, one of the requirements for Canada, for instance, was to change its laws regarding generic drugs. Patent rights were extended for big pharma. As for the quality of drugs from outside the US, it depends on the country. If it is a developed country, their standards could well exceed those here. I know we think that the FDA is somehow the gold standard. That may be wishful thinking in some instances.
There would be no selling for me
If a UTR of several years takes advantages of you, (Benz has warned didn't listen) took money in advance and then ghosted you, would you sell some hot photos of this person? There always a posting on craigslist looking to buy! Curious of the group's response.
They would be out there for the whole world to see right away.
Long distance Outcall advice
How do you more experienced members handle out all? Do you just rent a hotel room? If I come to GR from Lansing and don't want in call, or it's not available, what do you suggest? Just trying to be safe and smart. Thanks.
Great question. I hope others join the discussion so I can consolidate the advice to the New Member Guide. (if you aren't familiar, find that thread in the Grand Rapids forum under user blogs).
Here are my thoughts: we get too many reports of mongers making a long drive to GR only to get ghosted by whatever eye-candy escort ad they were lured to. So I wouldn't do a long distance trip unless you've made an appointment with a proven, well reviewed provider. But in that case, most proven providers in GR offer incall so might as well save yourself some cash and do her incall.
If you want to make a trip without a sure thing lined up (or just don't feel safe doing incall), I'd wait to get a room until the last minute. Find a place with multiple hotels nearby with vacancies (28th & I-96 is ideal coming from Lansing). Hang out at a bar or something until you've set the appointment. I'd also recommend not doing the cheap, no-tell motels or those with room doors that go outside. That can scare the better escorts off. If you say you are staying at a business or family style hotel it makes her feel safe and more assured you have the cash. I've actually lead with that in my first text: white professional looking for hr outcall at xx business hotel. Escorts are known to skip an appointment if a better option comes along (just like we'd cancel if a better escort becomes available). So make your offer more attractive than another's, especially if you are getting her at a busy time. The other point about nicer hotels: it's safer for you. If someone's going to scam a monger, they'll find an easier target at a cheap motel with no lobby / cameras.
If you are trying to do this on the cheap, then be prepared for disappointment. I'm all about getting the best value, but that means you need to accept the risk of a wasted day if you can't find what you want for your price. Otherwise if your time is more valuable, money talks so offer up a nicer place and / or better rate to get the escort you want. Local mongers might complain about "driving up rates" but this is a free market society and it's about satisfying your desires.
