Strip Club Reports

I remember, oh a 1000 years ago, when the block was 2 block long. Almost before I could drink legally, and I used a milatary draft card as my Id. Ah, most of you don't recall your draft cards. LOL. Any way.

The city fathers and mothers picked the block apart, club by club, took them down, and closed them. The question was, does Baltimore really need this world famous strip of seedy red light bars, known around the world. At the time they reluctantly said, OMG, YES. And so the rest of the block was saved. There was talk of relocating it, taminng it down, and so on.

Now another half of the block is gone. What will the city mothers and fathers do?

Who will stand up and say, Yes rebuild it, save our block. We need strip clubs, Drugs, Prostitutes, Alcholics, Criminals, and polock johnies.

If they don't rebuild it, Baltimore will loose another, and today, probably one of the most economically successful business groups in the city. After all, after Johns hopkins, and BGE, I wouldn't be surprised if the block is one of the largest employers of Baltimore city.

I'm being silly of course. But who knows.

And where will be have the next RT.

Tory called to let me know she and the other girls got out of the Blue Mirror safely, but lost everything they had with them except the dance outfit they were wearing. She said the club filled with smoke in about 1 minute and they were forced to evacuate pretty much naked. Remember, it was about 30 degrees and windy yesterday afternoon so that was pretty bad for them. Thankfully everyone in all the buildings is okay. Channel 13 actually interviewed a couple girls when they ran out. Some guy being interviewed talked about the girls running out and "they was jiggling and naked." Real class act. What happens to the Block remains to be seen. I first went there when it was actually almost three blocks long.

Does anybody know specifically which clubs were affected?

Wonder how things will shake out with the girls? Will they start filling up the other clubs? I can imagine the drama that will cause. Girls turning on each other because of jealously and customers.

The lower end girls will probably start working the streets. Look for craigslist post (personal ads) from some of the girls. Some will start dealing.

Lets face it for some the block was a family business. I have met a few sisters.

It wouldn't surprise me if most girls are on wellfare and not reporting the income they make.

The fallout of this fire on the lives of the dancers will be interesting.

The place I will miss the most is not the dance clubs but the Midway. There where always some interesting.

Every other doorman is nice, that guy is a jerk. Sometimes I don't even walk into his bar, just so I don't have to listen to his comments.

It was all "blocked" off, and there were several big Fire Investigation vehicles, including a Federal one. Federal? This leads me to believe that the fire was much more than a cigarette in a waste basket.

The Customs House places were still open. I didn't venture.

The Block is completely shutdown. I checked it out. There was only one club that was open. I saw one of the girls and talked to her. She was telling me a little inside scoop on how things went down. It turns out there was a guy who bought one of the buildings that burned down recently. I am not saying he had something to do with it. (wink wink) but to have a building burn to the ground within 6 months of owning it sounds rather too convenient. He didn't expect the damage to be so massive. It turns out not only did he affect his club but all the other clubs on the block. You see fire officials are not sure the building won't come tumbling down. It therefore poses a risk to the public along with the surrounding businesses. More than likely the building will have to be condemn. This means don't expect the block to be open until well into 2011. As for the ladies who work at the clubs. My friend believes they will start looking to play trick and treat after they realize the clubs won't be open. Some will of course look for new clubs. I am not into SW so for those that are you may see some new talent. Hopefully they catch the guy who did this and lock him up. We now must start looking for new clubs or perhaps share information for new places to check out. It would be nice to have a bar where past blockettes would go to meet with us. We could completely cut the club out.

Whenever a club or "store" or bar or whatever "business" like this wants to redecorate, its always cheaper to burn the place down so insurance will pay for the remodel rather than out of their own pocket.
