There IS such a thing as human trafficking. Young girls from Laos are "sold" into a kind of sexual slavery to brothels in NE Thailand (Isaan), by their parents who are desperate for money. The girl must work until she has earned enough to pay back this payment. In some countries, girls are kidnapped and sold into prostitution.

Though I have seen that this exists in NE Thailand, in my experience, the vast majority of service providers (in any country I have visited) are there by their own choice. But by claiming that all prostitution is by way of human trafficking, there is a better chance to wipe it all out, at least in places like Boston. What they fail to mention is that legalizing and regulating prostitution is another valid way of controlling human trafficking.

In the Boston Globe yesterday, Mayor Walsh said "In Boston, we will not tolerate buying or selling of human beings. ".

But selling sexual services performed by a willing provider for a willing customer does not amount to selling a human being, any more than getting a (clean) body massage is selling a human being. The opponents of prostitution have other reasons for trying to control it than human trafficking, but these reasons will not sway as many minds.

In the end, there is little any of us can do beyond being aware of this movement and making sure we are not snared.

There is even a country called Mauritania where slavery is still basically legal. In fact I'm pretty sure that I saw version of modern slavery here in Boston with one Brazilian woman. But human trafficking is a miniscule part of the prostitution. Majority of the prostitutes are so willing and eager and ready and independent in their choices it's not funny. But human trafficking is the way general populace and in particularly women who are not prostitutes in America want to perceive prostitution because, first it gives them an additional wasteful feel-good cause to care about and second, it gives them a reason to keep something which they perceive as a threat to their lifestyle illegal despite feminist ideology of everybody being able to make their own choices in life.

How many times have you seen some reporter interviewing a prostitute (or adult film actress) and tries to convince her that she is unhappy and miserable while she is being all happy and giggly in front of him / her? And when the interviewer says to, let's say, Las Vegas escort a thing like "that must feel really awful being with so many men" and she goes "no, it's actually not that bad. I'm having a lot of fun. They take me out, spend money on me, many of them are intelligent and successful, etc. , etc. " but the minute she starts going that route the reporter screams: "Commercial! Commercial! We're going to commercial!" Us, the masses, are not suppose to be listening to such opinions.

Human trafficking in America exists but it's not that big of a problem, and a lot of it quite consensual too. Prostitution in the third world often keeps the whole families from starving to death. But if you think this way then puritan-minded PC police will hang you because in modern day America you got to think and talk a certain way and if you don't you're either crazy (the best case scenario) or extreme and sooner rather then later such thinking will get you into legal trouble. While I am not advocating it, I have done it in the past with both good & bad results.

There are a thousand one reasons why someone is a lurker or guest none of which I care to list or debate.

However if you look on the front page of this site, guests (lurkers?) usually out number members by at least a 2 to 1 margin, there are reasons for that, some good & some not so much. Determining which is which is the hard part, & the same applies to members.

For some it can be hard enough to post a review with info & intel never mind trying to determine if they should share info with a regular or a senior member or a lurker or guest, & I would not disagree with the myriad of ways anyone deals with a lurker or guest.

With 5 years and only 2 posts I would give him only very general information and nothing about any particular provider, unless only telling him to stay away because of a dangerous situation, upselling, etc. After 5 years with nothing much to say, my guess is he will always be a lurker.

If I'm paying to play, then I want what I can't get in real life (at least not without putting in a lot work).
