What about the economics effects of passing such a law? I have to imagine that RI will lose a fortune in revenue if they start cracking down on the sex industry. Guys go to RI to spend money on ladies and then the girls dump it back into the local businesses when they spend their income.
You'd thing that with the state that this State is in, our lawmakers would find something more important to worry about. This state needs money. Legalize it and tax it. R. I. Already gets money to license the MP's, do they really want to lose that money? MP's have been around as long as I have been in the game which is over 40 yrs. R. I. Gonna make booze illegal next? Grow up govt. Prositution will AWLAYS exist one way or another. Prove the lady in my house took money for sex! I bought her dinner andI I'm gettin laid for it. Is that considered prostitution on her part?

I went to Cheaters both Saturday and a little while ago today and both times I mentioned this issue to dancers whose response was slightly more eloquent than [I]"duh?"[/I]
They're in for quite a financial shock if those booths close.
If this law goes in to effect, and R.I. strip clubs do lose their most prized possesion--their booths. The alternative would be Madigras in Mass. or the Electric Blue in Connecticut. These places have similar "areas" to a booth. Like the CR--or Champange Room, where extras can be had. The only problem is the house fees are steep!! Like, a $100 just to enter the CR at the Electric Blue. If anyboby knows of any other places in New England, I'm all ears!! Another problem is the drive, I live in southern Massachusetts, and it was just a hop, skip, and a jump to RI. Now it would be at least an hours ride to either place. NOT GOOD!! Man this is gonna suck bad!

The beauty of Rhode Island now is that there's no bouncer looking over the dancer's shoulder and no worry about cops busting in as your busting a nut. If the law passes then clubs in RI will survive, but they'll be just as bad as those over the border in MA.

Obviously, this could be wishful thinking - but if you read the text in the definition of prostitution, it talks about things that are [b][i]not necessarily[/b][/i] part of a high-contact lapdance. If that definition is interpreted literally, then a good lapdance is [b]not[/b] prostitution. If this is correct, then RI will still have a significant advantage of MA clubs, which still operate (if management takes it seriously) under a distance limitation between a dancer in the nude and the customer. I'd be interested in hearing what others think...

Some of the things that go on in the booths of some of the providence clubs most certainly fit the definition of prostitution. Although many decry the level of service during LDs in many MA clubs, they are better (i.e., "high contact") than portrayed.
BJs and FS in Providence will disappear.

Does anyone here have a good legal mind to explain timetables etc. as to when and if this will or will not be passed? Previous bills just dyed, more important issues, and this one will hopefully do the same. Do think the lawmakers are more motivated this time around so time will tell.

Exactly, the "extras" will/may disappear but they'll just go back to the way they were a few years ago, which was still pretty good.

BTW, I speculated on the possible timeframe considering passage soon, appeals, etc. My opinion is that things won't change until the beginning of next year.
