I've been pulled over before leaving the old RaceTrac. I was just getting gas on the way home from a date on Idrive and made a you-turn where Zada is no to get back on I4. They gave the same excuse, my tints. Made me turn my car off, put the keys on the hood and step out of the vehicle. Asked if I was drinking. Then asked if I was trying to get drugs. Then asked if I was trying to pick up a girl. Then asked if I was trying to oick up a guy. I told them I was headed home from idrive and they kept saying "it's ok, you can tell us why you're here. It'll make things a lot easier. " BULLSHIT! They made me wait for a K-9 unit since I didn't give the ok for them search. Then the dog barked and they started to turn my car upside down. They emptied my car while I recorded on my phone. Their attitude changed quickly when they didn't find anything except my dashcam and I made sure to stand in front of my car. Now it was my turn to flip the script. I asked for a supervisor, then a sergeant. Kept saying this was BS and I'm going to contact my lawyers. I was there 15-20 minutes on my time, and I made them sit there with me for over an hour on their time. It was poetic justice.
This happened to me down in south Florida. I was in a known Drug and SW area and it was late at night. They said I didn't come to a complete stop. Asked me where I lived which was about 20 minutes away, then asked me what I was doing in that area. They were like, "you're a long way from home what are you doing here?" I responded, "I have the freedom of movement, and as long as I'm not trespassing, which I'm not, and there is no curfew, which there isn't, then I have the freedom to travel anywhere at any time of day or night! They did Not like that one bit lmao. Then they asked if they could search my vehicle and I responded with, "Do you have probable cause or reasonable suspicion and if so please explain?" I also told them they did not have permission to search. They didn't have probable cause or reasonable suspicion. They ran my plates and I had out of state tags at the time. They asked me why I hadn't switched over my plates. I told them I was a student (which I was) at the local university, therefore since I'm only here for school its not a requirement that I change my residency, its only required that I keep my I'd and tags current. They did Not like that lmao. After they ran my plates, one of the officers came back and said look, it's obvious that you don't like police but you don't have to be a smart ass. I told her (and she was f'and hot by the way) it's not that I don't like police, I don't like being illegally stopped and harassed by police. I wished them well and was on my way.
I've had a few pull up behind me when out on the trail and known areas, but for some reason I haven't been stopped yet. I hate being harassed.
