Those people with pre-existing conditions, in poor health, the elderly, smokers, the obese. Their chances aren't as good as the others. But COVID isn't like catching the common cold, meaning that there could be long-term post-COVID morbidity that may or may not be recoverable. Most women recover from breast cancer, but the morbidity is the mastectomy or double mastectomy. I have friends who had Covid back in February who still cannot smell or taste.
I know for a fact that neurologist at Augusta Health / Medical College of Georgia are currently enrolling post-COVID patients in a study to exam both physical and neurological affects after recovery from the virus. According to those physicians that I have spoken with, we don't know the entire story of COVID, especially the post-COVID adverse affects. The bottom line, according to the neurologist, is "do what you can to avoid catching it".
