Anyone else getting texts from Random women with "Hey its Sarah" or whatever? They either claim we talked before or we met on a chat board or whatever. Send some sexy pics and say lets meetup. Its obviously a scam but I can't figure out where they got my name and number from.

In my case it was a really hot looking Chinese woman sending a message to a man she met while on vacation and he must have given her the wrong contact information. We chatted for a couple of months. She kept giving me insider investment information for a crypto currency exchange. No matches on her pictures using google or tineye. The crypto bank had a bad reputation. You can put your money in but you can never get it out. They would charge outrageous withdrawal fees.
We chatted a lot, I really liked to chats. I think she ended up telling me too much of her personal information and was replaced by another woman who was much colder and money motivated.
I found a whole Reddit thread on the scam. Some of the other guys enjoyed their conversations so much the would invest minimal amounts just to keep the conversations going.
They get your info from lots of sources. Maybe you filled out an online survey. Bought something from a sketchy site. They got it off of Facebook. Who knows.
I think I caught yellow fever from her.

I do a lot of WhatsApp to overseas customers at work and my coworkers and I always get hit up by the Asian scam messages. It's pretty entertaining in the office making up outrageous stories and messing with them until the guy on the other end (it's absolutely some guy and not a hot Asian girl) tells us to F off. LOL.

Long time avid reader of this site, first time posting here. Looking for advice, thank you all in advance. I visit Las Vegas multiple times a year, will be visiting first week of February. The past few times I have been in LV and contacted providers I found on the usual sites, ALL of them require me to give them my true name, hotel information and room number in order to see me. I refuse to give them any of this information and always contact them with a burner. But ALL of them refuse to come to my hotel unless I provide them with this personal information. So is there a way around this? I certainly do not want to give my real personal info out nor do I want to send them my I'd for their screening process. What am I to do? I do provide references of other escorts that they can contact with one of my alias or burner numbers (have a spreadsheet too for quick reference) and at most will give photos of my key card and interior of the hotel room with the current days newspaper as a timestamp. Some have asked for selfies and also had no issue ever with sending one with a facemask and baseball cap on. This applies to escorts anywhere from the 400+.
I messaged her but no responses and was wondering if someone has some info.

Once I figure out its one of those scams I just block the number and move on.
Just curious how someone on the other end of a text message can tell you are using a texting app like TextNow? Some providers specifically state no text calls from apps. I don't want to use my own number ever. Also can LE find you based off a texting app I use a dummy email when signing up for it.

I regularly text my real number from the apps just to keep them active (I use the free versions so I get an alert that my number is going to be given away if I go more than 7-10 days without using it) and I see no difference when reading the texts, but I have messaged providers from multiple numbers and had no responses from my text app numbers.

I might be wrong but do not think LE is going to expend that much resources and time to hunt down someone getting their rocks off unless there is some major issue that occurred.
