The couple of ladies that I am friendly with say very much the same thing. A lot of guys either lose their nerve or have called a bunch of girls and will no show if they get a "better offer".
The instance of this goes down as the price goes up since, once you get into the higher price range, guys tend to book based on reviews or girls they want to see rather than shopping for a good deal.
When I first started out seeing girls by appointment I spent a lot of nights sitting in my vehicle dialing provider's cell phones only to get VM 'cause she was already with another guy. It's frustrating as hell but there is a considerable lack of consideration on both sides in the lower end market so it's just something you have to deal with.
