I have run into the funk many times at these new Chinese places. I don't call them AMPs, they are not. I have seen suite cases hidden under massage tables. They live at these places, especially some in CBUS. When CBUS got busted a few years back, they found them living there. They wake up in the morning and wipe themselves off with a wet towel. Seems like more and more of them are opening with a table shower and one I saw last week had a shower and a tub. Hopefully they will start bathing the funk off themselves.

Some guys bring their own.
Alternately, leave your credit cards in your car unless you're planning to pay with one and take in only the cash you will need.

Geesh. When I have ever gone to an AMP, a Chinese Massage Place, a normal massage place, I always leave and hide my wallet under the back seat in my car. I bring my keys / cell / exact amount I will spend in cash. Been doing that since day 1.
You cannot prove they used your credit cards. Now and then I get someone using a credit card, even being so careful.
