I didn't do the DMCA take down notice route though; I just submitted a removal request through [URL]https://imgur.com/removalrequest[/URL] and imagur honored it. Funny thing though, I just searched that GV # again to see what would pop up and they replaced the image with a non-descript picture of some random dude with the name "John". Even though it's not me I just submitted another removal request, LOL.

According to their site, you have to legitimately have a copyright or be in the process of acquiring one. If the TOS violation doesn't work, I may give it a try, but I don't know if it is really worth it.
