I've noticed something similar. I blame it on GPS and the increase in the amount of SD's willing to pay for GPS.

When I was active on SA, it seemed only half the ladies I contacted even read my message and of those only about a 1/3 responded so it's really a numbers game. If you look at it from a marketing perspective, for your average direct mail marketing campaigns, you're doing pretty good if you get a 2% response rate.

I only contact people who message me first or people that favorite me. I get a LARGE amount of escorts (mainly people that I eventually find on TNA) and wannabe escorts (strippers). I've only contacted a couple of dozen people directly and most of the time I don't get a response, so I quit doing it. Now, I see why I always seem to find escorts, strippers and then the occasional normal person, instead of the other way around.

Most seemed to be scams or pros. Just a side note, I don't think you have to confine yourself to the 30+ crowd to be successful on SA. I primarily focused on the under 30 ladies and didn't have any problems hooking up but takes more work.

Many of the girls clearly expect to get paid to accompany you to a nice restaurant to be wined and dined, and then never see you again. Others want a significant amount of money just for a coffee at Starbucks. Some even demand the money in advance of the first date. To respond to the other post about the site, my impression is that the money you agree to for the first date is just for the public first date, not for any private activity that might follow on. I invested about 200 and got nothing of value.

The theme of the site gives them such a big out if they don't like something about you like your age, your car, your gender. Whatever, they can simply say "its just for the date". If the first date offer is low enough, it is worth it in my opinion to be simply to meet them over a dinner.
Another thing that strikes me wrong is that you have to pay the site more to unlock a conversation as the offer goes up. Just to check out if the $300 first date offer includes everything it'll cost a lot of credits. Where the $50 first date offers you can use few credits, even take the date and not be out much if the eventual main deal doesn't get closed.
