People are losing site of the big picture. The goal of the mitigation was to "flatten the curve" and prevent the overwhelming of our health care system. We have accomplished that. The goal was NOT to prevent cases and deaths, which is an impossible task. And in the end, have we decreased the overall number of cases under the curve? Unless we shut down the economy and all interaction until a vaccine is available, also an impossible ask, as we cannot shut down that long.
So, when it's all said and done, have we really affected the overall outcome, while demolishing our economy and ruining peoples lives and businesses and ending up with trillions in future taxes and trillions in market losses? People are losing their businesses, livelihoods, savings, retirement, and their future and their children's futures. Having concern for that does not imply lack of concern for coronavirus cases. It is a rational balance that needs to be struck, while the question still remains, in the end, will there be much difference in overall coronavirus deaths?
The federal gov has taken unprecedented action and has done substantial amount of work during this modern day unprecedented pandemic. Whether we have done the right thing or not, the actions of the fed gov cannot be discounted.

First, just an opinion, and I'll close with something constructive, hopefully something A2 can be proud to see (I hope A2_ I think INeedaName is right. We have proven we have flattened the curve. And we face a different issue if we don't at least try to restore business in America. I have family members in the healthcare field, and at least in my family, they support a gradual going back to work. They are hearing reports of patients who are recovering but losing their jobs and homes, and are ready to go back to work, under precautionary guidelines.
My observation: When conservatives disagree, I often don't see much criticism other than they disagree. When those of a liberal base call something out, they often condescend with venomous, poisonous hatred. The same hatred toward trump. I think that should stop. Can't we agree to disagree, without calling each other stupid?

Trump banned China international travel without hesitation back in JAN, when they first learned of the "30 - 70" confidence level rule, which they typically use. We have also produced more PPE / Ventilator / Respiratory equipment in the last 3 months than any other country in the world. Wisconsin plants have now TRIPLED production. We are now loaning this equipment countries. We have turned Navy ships into hospitals, fed & private sector partnering together at RECORD levels, so much so, that Democrat CEO's are praising Trump. Democrat governors and a recent Michigan democrat congress woman also recently praised Trump. I'm not saying he hasn't made mistakes, but he's done a lot of things RIGHT. And as far as tests go, tests are increasing based on supply. But it doesn't matter how any tests we do, it will never be enough for those in the liberal mindset, in my opinion. So honestly guys, it's hard to take any of that seriously when we can't even point out the right things he's done.
Lastly, I NeedaName is a good friend of mine. All he did was voice his opinion. He didn't cut anyone down, like some of you did. And he is veteran on this board who has shared LOTS of helpful information. Guys, its OK to disagree. But the last thing we need to do is cut each other down for sharing an opinion, and alienating each other to the point, where no one shares anymore, rendering this board utterly useless. None of us want to see that. I mean this sincerely, I hope all you gents are staying safe. Even if I disagree with you, I have enough conscisous to feel sympathy if something happened. I can agree with a few of the things that you said, especially about what the site is for and helping each other out, but what you said about Conservatives and how they treat people that they disagree with is absolutely delusional. It is your opinion, but I think that you have lived in a bubble since 2007.
I have voted for three Republican candidates for President in my life time. I have also voted for Democratic candidates as well. I just don't walk into the voting booth and vote along party lines in every election. That is putting too much blind faith in one political party. I vote based upon the issues. I became a Libertarian and left the Republican Party when I saw the asinine behavior exhibited by the Tea Party. The Republican Party is dead. It is now the party of Trump and that is a scary thing. If any previous President did half the crap that he gets away with, you would literally be pissing in your pants.
I also don't worship the man that holds the office. Politicians don't deserve our love, but they are entitled to the respect that they earn. Trump has too many character flaws for me to ever be impressed by him. He is a narcissist, a sociopath, and I don't find him to be very articulate or intelligent. Pretty sad state for the most powerful man on the planet.
He is entertaining and I do look forward to his daily briefings and twitter posts.
