Massage Parlor Reports

Everyone has a bad day once in awhile, and some people just plain lose interest in their work. So, as a frequent customer of Mae's, I went to see for myself if she had indeed slipped. Not one bit.

She was very happy to see me, and delivered on par with my previous sessions with her. Gotta say, she is still one of the best I've ever experienced in 35 years. I've always done my part and tipped her well, 40-50. If we want the top service, we have to do our part too. If a girl knows she is getting a small tip from previous experience with a customer, I can't say that I blame her for not delivering A+ service. Mae still rocks!

For those who visit Tampa, Tina @ Oxygen Spa on Kennedy is still on par with Mae. In fact, I'm out the door now to pay Tina a visit.

I have nothing invested in Mae. I am just a customer. However, I have a lot of respect for anyone who is a professional in whatever they do. Mae is a true professional. How many times have you been to a licensed massage therapist and asked for a certain type of massage or for them to concentrate on certain areas (not that area) and have been ignored?

Candidly, I do not go to see Mae for extras. If I routinely tip a LMT $20 for a so-so massage, why isn't Mae worth more when she provides a massage that is so much better. I would never think of giving Mae less than a $40 tip.

I don't think she was hinting at anything. You have to realize that Mae and others work from open to close 7 days a week. If she has been busy all day long she might be tired and sore. In my past experience going during the slow times of the day or slower days you get better service. I have been someones last massage of the day before and the massage was a rubdown (no table shower offered) and he.

Part of me really hesitates to bring this up again, but I feel compelled. You realize that's a 50% tip? Do you tip that much for lunch every day? Hell, $20 is 25% and THAT is generous.

I agree that Mae does a good job, but she doesn't do a 50% tip job. At least, that's my perspective on it.

I agree. I go to ginza quite a lot and always tip twenty dollars. I always feel good about it and the girls never seem to be disappointed. Twenty five percent is a very acceptable tip.

I suppose $20 is a sufficent tip for the massage assuming it costs around $100. But what if other items are on the menu, do you tip more? If I go to one of the resorts that have a spa service and get a massage, I generally tip about 25% and feel good about it. But as you know there is no menu at the Ritz Carlton. So do you tip for the massage and than add more for any menu items?

I do not want to beat this horse. Guys should tip whatever they feel appropriate. When I go to a LMT, I usually tip $20. I do not consider giving a massage an easy job, it is a service that I value, helps me to enjoy life more fully and it is not something I do more than twice a week.

However, when I get a massage that is headAnot and shoulders above others (again I am only talking about a legit massage), is not rushed and from someone who listens to exactly where I might have a tight muscle, I feel good about rewarding that person. After I have seen Mae I feel 200% better. She makes a difference in my life. I appreciate her. One way to let her know is with $. Another way is to post on boards like this one in hopes that she will get more customers. Unlike at other massage places, she has never asked me for a tip and never makes money an issue.

To be honest, that's part of the job. They should listen and attend to the tight muscles or issues you mention. As for rewarding something, that's part of why you give a tip. So is repeat business. Same with some kind words.

Your tip is your business. In my [b]opinion[/b], it's overly excessive and leads to a bad place when they expect such a reward. Leaving a $20 tip is NOT cheap. As I pointed out, that's 25% of the $80 fee.

OK, I'll stop now. We agree that the horse is dead. Sometimes I just still have to kick it.

So what would you tip for HE? F/S? BBBJ?

I tend to go $20 for normal good massage with HE. $50 with BBBJ. $ for F/S. And yes, it's very available. Like everyone says, it's more on your attitude than anything else. Treat them right so that they WANT it.

Actually I agree with all that has been said here. Twenty is a great tip for an 80$ massage. If I get a perfunctory TS, average massage, and no extras...that is what I leave. On the other hand....if the TS and massage are exceptional, and other areas are playfully and happily attended to...along with a great attitude...then I leave more...maybe 40 or even 50. Soooo...it's all up to the girl with me...she can do her average job and get a minimal tip OR she can make me very happy and be generously rewarded.

Many AMP girls have gotten their $20 from me but Mae at Ginza has always been a 40-50 tip for me. Incredible attitude, massage, shower, and recently she has learned (or started using) a little prostate action. Would tip her even more if I could ever get my hands INSIDE those clothes!

My only complaint with Ginza is that they have gotten too busy. The past two times I have flown into town I have called ahead (at least 45 minutes)...told Lilly I was in town and would like an appointment, but when I got there at the appointed time had to wait! One time a 20 minute wait...last time almost 45 minutes. Hope they don't become like a doctor's office visit where appointments mean nothing!

The way I look at it I am already paying ~80 for the hour.

That X 40 hrs a week X 52 weeks a year = $166,400 a year.

Add the 20 dollar tip and it is over 200K a year.

That is a fact. Anything after that is a tradeoff. Meaning:

"But she doesn't work 40 hours/have 40 appointments a year!"

That's true, but to a certain degree a choice. Not only in choosing a career that doesn't involve 40 hours of work, like mine and yours.

You are correct, but they definitely get more than just the tip. I don't know the numbers, I've never worked there or asked, but I'd imagine if they didn't get a decent cut they'd just go into business for themselves doing outcalls until they had a studio.

Besides, if they only worked off tips ALONE, at 20 a pop using the same formula from on top, they'd make just over $41,000 a year minus whatever hours from the 40-hour work week they chose to not work.

Does anyone know if Mae was at the AMP next to Lil 500 race track about 2 years ago. I was a regular with her, but went in one day - they told me she was gone - and after the 2nd post Mae visit was a disaster - never went back.

If she is the same person - I can vouch she gives a great - genuine message - is very pleasant to talk to and being that she was my first experience at an AMP and I knew I didn't want a "happy ending" - was very good and made me feel very comfortable. I went to her about weekly for about 3 months.

I loved seeing her - and the back "Tickle" she gave with light touching after the message was so fantastic.

1) The girls do not get all of the money for the hour. I don't know the inside story of these things, but I would be surprised if the girls get 50% of the fee--probably more like 25%.

2) The girls do not work 40 hours a week. The work a LOT more. And the work is not easy.

3) Everyone should take the tip advice that's been in this forum, and tip whatever they feel is appropriate for the service. Tipping should NOT be according to what you think they make, whether you think they make $200k+ or $100k-. Meaning do not simply undertip or overtip on principle.

It's also worth pointing out that over tipping does nothing but drive up prices. I've seen it happen over and over again. Guys want to be a big shot and the rest of us end up paying for it. This market is like all others. If people show they can afford a higher rate then they are going to be charged a higher rate for that service.

I do agree that you don't tip based on what you think the person is paid, however you do tip on a percentage of the rate. Do you believe your waitress at Denny's gets 50% of the bill you pay? No. What about the guy at Best Buy who sold you your TV? Nope. The split the masseuse receives is not your concern either. 25% is a very generous tip for a massage with a simple HE.

Agree that each should tip what they want and can afford - and 20-25% seems reasonable. But for all of you calculating what they make and comparing it to a job at Dennys or Best Buy - take a test - just try to give your significant other a 50 minute massage - similar to the one you like (you can skip the HE - believe me you won't be in the mood) - IT'S frigging HARD WORK! This is manual labor at it's hardest - no breaks during the session and they normally go straight into another session. Again - not saying you should tip more - but you've got to respect the effort that's put into a 50-80 minute massage - I certainly couldn't do it.
