There is a difference between addict escorts and other trafficking victims because drug addicts have a choice and victims don't. However it is well known that some traffickers use drugs to keep control of their victims. Then they dump them on the streets when they are no longer bringing in the dollars. This makes them both victims and addicts. I personally know of three recovering addicts who became addicts and escorts by this means. Many addicts are who start at a young age, in their teens, are still emotionally and psychologically children even as a young adult if they have always used because it has been shown that a heavy user doesn't move past the emotional and psychological age of when they started using. This is why rehab is so important because their addict behavior and emotional age has to be changed through a process of reintegration into society. An addict can become clean but they often relapse because they haven't learned the tools to survive in the real world and they are still emotionally the same age as when they started using.

Don't apologize for addicts but don't enable them either. As the population of addicts grows so does the cost to society as a whole. This is just one persons opinion who has many years of experience with addicts, not really trying to win an argument.
