This kind of sting is easy to avoid if you only see well reviewed providers who are reviewed on reliable sites (TER, TBD, USASexGuide, etc.). Also make sure that the reviewer is reliable. Don't trust a reviewer who just signed up yesterday, or only has the one review. Never trust reviews on CL or similar sites. I will use CL providers only if they have been on the board for a month or more. If I am going out of town I will start reading the board 4 to 6 weeks before my trip. A little homework will keep you out of a place none of us want to be.

Aside from the lameness of putting resources to work this way, the reporter is the absolute worst writer in history. What a bunch of self-serving tripe. He squeezed in more cliches and stupid analogies than a .... oops.
