Actually, I'm pulling your chain. For anyone else who might be wondering, Amsterdam and their Red Light District is not much more than an over-rated tourist trap. I've always found the incessant weeping and whining about the fact that it's not legal (duh) silly to the point of childishness, and I'm not at all sure legalization is something I'd want to see even if I was so delusional and out of touch with reality that I actually hallucinated that there was any support at all for doing that. The experiment has been tried of course, not just there but also in the USA right now, and the results are not very appealing.

In case someone forgot, there are totally legal gov't regulated brothels in the US within half a day's drive or so of the California population centers, and a few hours or less from Vegas, and everyone stays away in droves, for the excellent reasons you mention when describing your experience in Amsterdam. By most accounts it resembles all the fun of a trip to the Dept. of Motor Vehicles to pay excise tax on a car purchase, except it's even more expensive.

Or, do an online search sometime to check out the excruciating list of politically correct antiseptic rules recently promulgated to regulate legalized service in New Zealand, and then see if it's still possible to try to remember that there's actually supposed to be sex involved in there somewhere. It sounds more like a trip to a dentist's office. Legalization and government control does to sex what public housing projects do to communities: ugh, yuck, nobody wants to go near there if they can possibly avoid it.

It's not legal most most places on earth, but it's widely available informally for those capable of conducting themselves with a minimal amount of discretion so as not to make a public pest of themselves, and that may be the best circumstance that can be hoped for with something that is considered distasteful to more than 90% of the population in every culture that's ever existed everywhere on earth.

I thought 90% of the population was on the buying end at one point or another :) , Legalization will never come about in Los Angeles, But I am against making it a Top Priortiy, I see way to much just driving down the street, to think that S/W's are the root of all evil as local LE has made them out to be.

Further proof that if they really wanted to get rid of us they'd leagalize it. I think service varies greatly by culture. I had my first [i]real escort[/i] in Barcelona where prostitution is handled very much like in Mexico. Out in the open, ect. This girl was amazing, a tiny bit older than me, I spent the better part of a day with her and I swear (Call me any names you want. I don't give a fuck.) I almost cried after I left. I truley honor the opinion of all those senior members, but with all due respect, I have to completely disagree on this one.

Amsterdam, and especially the red light district is a really bad example, since it is just what you said: a tourist trap. No local would go to those places. I am from Europe and have my fair share of 'legal sex' over there. There are tourist traps all over Europe. Another very good example is Hamburg (lived there for four years). DO NOT pick up any streetwalker on the Reeperbahn or go into any of those establishments in that same district. Gorgeous girls, but upsell and 200 Euro for 10 min. bj.

There is plenty other places and private appartements where you easily get one hour with multiple pops for less than 100 Euro and this includes the best GFE.
They have tons of forums where all this is discussed (same as this one).

Legalization of prostitution is the right way to go, you still have to watch out and don't be completely guided by little Jonny (It's really hard when a playboy playmate promises you sex for 50 on the Reeperbahn).

Figueroa has been off and on. The sw's are usually out for only a little while before most of you have noticed that LE comes sweeping in with about 2-3 cruisers. As a result, crime there is virtually non-existant and yet it is far from a police-state. Beautiful blonde girls with that sexy accent, don't act like a moron and no one hassles you. At the risk of repeating myself, we need to work to get the laws CHANGED HERE!!

Saw on the news that the police had 6 or so vehicles with an aim for 10. Made a big production of it. Van Nuys area. How does this help exactly? The guy from the tv (cop) said that parents taking their kids to school had to explain what was happening between the johns and the hookers. Perhaps if what they were doing was legal, they could actually open up shop like in other countries. There, problem solved.

Well the police are flat out lying. Few children use Sepulveda to walk to school and there are no schools at all on Sepulveda in the Van Nuys area(there are in North Hills, a few miles up). And anyway, the few hookers that hang out on Sepulveda before 10am are very innoucuous and nearly impossible to spot, even for seasoned mongers. Later in the after noon is a different story, but I would guess that walking by Thirstys or by the gangmembers and drug dealers closer to Sepulveda/Vanowen makes a far greater impression on children than some random woman stepping into a car.

Went to 2 different thai massage centers (legit ones) on olive / san fernando and got very good massage. it's a little pricey $60 and $70 an hour. got some occasional touchings and rubbings but nothing good. started talking to the masseuse and she told me she works almost 12 hours a day and 7 days a week and is terribly tired. She had a body to die for, will try talking more to her next time. Nothing much to hope for, mostly old masseuses giving good or bad massage and making big $$$ in an hour.
