Some people say the cops don't allow people shooting up or smoking out in the open, but I still see it happen. I heard there was a three-strike rule for the street walkers but most people I know have gone past the three strikes and they don't care.

Seems like the new elected officials want to make changes, but they don't have a plan and they don't have the funds to make meaningful change.

Can you elaborate on where or what part of K Avenue you saw the cops pulling over the cars. And time of day? We went from a Philly DA that out and out stated they were going to leave SW's alone to a new sheriff in town that is looking to choke off the revenue stream that keeps K Ave humming.

Another observation is many are close to hot spots like Clearfield, Westmoreland, Hart Lane etc. Not as many on the lower south end or the North end. Now, the LEO activity has had a dramatically increased presence recently.

More bike patrols in the daylight hours and more city cars parked at strategic locations observing parked mongers. The bike patrols will get longer hours as the temperatures warm a little. I tell other mongers to stay legal and don't give the law any reason to stop them. The dumb you-Turns every half block, slowing down to look at anything that resembles a woman, picking up girls leaving a drug block, junk vehicles, etc are an immediate eye opener for LEO. They are also paying attention to guys dropping girls at hot blocks and waiting. Me, I'm just an 'OL Gator.

From what I hear, All Time Media is the worst. Then ATM Fox split off from him and then Brother Art split off from ATM Fox. It may not seem like there is a plan, but they are stepping up enforcement and that's some kind of plan.

We would all agree that the prostitution is not the "real" problem, the drugs and the violent crime (shootings, beatings, etc.) is the "real" problem.

But there's a reason why governments put cops in the median of the highway with radar guns and claim they're cracking down on dangerous highway driving. It's much easier to catch the speeders and a lot harder to catch the people weaving in and out of traffic even though the reckless drivers are the ones that are considerably more dangerous than the driver going 80 MPH in a 55 MPH zone, straight and true down the road on a clear, dry day.

Catching people spraying K avenue with bullets requires the cops be right there when it happens (and not get shot themselves).

So they are probably figuring that if they can dry up the sex trade that's half the battle, and there will be a follow-on effect to the drug trade. Much harder for prostitutes to make money = prostitutes don't come down to K to buy drugs.

Drug trade dries up, violent crime plummets right along with it.

Sounds like a longshot to me, but I can see that's the thinking.
