This was followed by grisly pictures of dudes with their throats slit and drug through bloody pools on the floor and a pic of some dude holding a rifle of some sort. You'll see reports of dozens of these threats across the Threads in pretty much every city that exists. The way to best protect yourself is to only use burner numbers or use spoofed numbers. I use both depending on the situation. These people set up the ads and wait for the bait to nibble. The one with the gory pics are the ones that really scare some people. They are looking for free cash, using either extortion (we know your family members name and will tell them and your job) or use threats of violence (the pics you got) but in each case, you are safe. These people are most likely not even in the US. I have received a few and I once got one where they sent me all my "family members" names so I searched the spoofed number I had used (have used that same spoofed number for years) and the names actually matched that phone number and linked to another guy in town, so they do look the numbers up on public reporting websites to gain some credibility with you. When they told me all the names, I told them that all those family members were killed in a horrific carnival ride accident and weren't alive any longer.

Like I said, I have received these a handful of times and a few times I played along with them. Kept promising to send them money and then acting stupid like I can't get the transfer to work. I would send them fake transfer numbers. The best was one time I "confirmed" (I asked and they said yes) that they were "local" and told them I would leave the cash in a bag under a tree in a park. LOL. They kept getting more and more aggressive towards me verbally as I kept insisting that's what we needed to do. I eventually told them I left the cash in a park and gave them "directions" to retrieve the cash. I even sent them a picture of a white canvas bag with a big dollar sign on printed on it sitting under a tree. I found that pic on the internet and sent it to them.

After a while, they will give up or you just simply ignore or block them when you tire of them.

Same thing happened to me a few years back and it did work as did t want my GF and her daughter in danger and after the first few $$$ I paid thinking it was true they kept asking for more and sent shit.
