As mornings usually work best for me I've found that if they aren't responding to my confirmation morning of I can sometimes blast them out of bed with 4 or 5 back to back calls. There is no faking the grogginess and disorientation when they answer. Remember, most are addicts and in the words of Jim Carroll, addiction is just another 9-5 gig with the hours inclined a little more towards the shadows. So many of them are up most of the night and sleeping until 1 or 2 or 3.
