You can disable that if you have an iPhone but otherwise turning it off works well, so long as you can explain why your phone goes off for 30 min or 1 h every time she isn't able to track your location.

SO is legitimately worried about the kids, bit I believe it is an added bonus to be able to monitor me as well.

I have a very similar situation, my primary phone is with Verizon, I've got a burner with TracFone and a SO at home that I, obviously, want (need?) to keep in the dark as to my extracurricular activities. While I've often gone with the solution suggested by some members of leaving the primary phone in a legitimate location, it sure wouldn't hurt to have more information on ways to address the issue of the SO being able to track your location.

As long as you don't do it often, just tell her you gave a buddy a ride home and once you got there he wouldn't stop talking. We all have one of those friends right.

However Verizon Customer Service could tell you more accurately.[/QUOTE]I'm unsure if this has been mentioned yet, but have you just tried going into your Settings app on your iPhone, scrolling down to Privacy, then inside Privacy turn off your Location Services? That's what I do and I know when it's off the SO couldn't see where I'm at. Of course, while it's off, you can't use your GPS but if you write down the directions to their incall location prior to heading to the provider, then you won't need the GPS. This also could allow you not to have to turn off your phone completely. Which could come across as sketchy to the SO.

Just a thought.

Plus, my office is very small and she's well acquainted with everyone there, meaning I couldn't use any of them as an excuse and, even worse, she could easily, and innocently, even check with them on my whereabouts. It's been suggested to turn off location services, sounds like that may be the best bet.

Depending on the time of day. Just park your car at a mall / strip plaza near the hotel / location, leaving the phone in the car and uber / taxi to the provider from there.
