On the other hand it's no less true that if you pack heat and are unwilling or unsure to use it, you will get fucked by it. Recently read a news story of a guy somewhere in Broward who was protecting turtle nests on the beach and was packing heat. He called out some SOB who was fucking with the turtles and the guy confronted him. He pulled the piece (legal carrier) on the dude and he backed down. But as soon as he holstered it the fucker turned around, took the piece from him and shot him with his own gun, though I only skimmed the article and don't remember reading of any fatal injuries. WTF! Moral of the story is when heat is involved the chances for escalation are way higher. Just considering the alternative POV.
Mundo that's pretty much the way it happened. He (CC person) used the gun to threaten the man and that is misdomener under FL statuate 790.10 in the state of Fla. Unless you are a LEO you can't use a firearm to threaten somebody unless your life is in jerperdy. So the idot messing with the turtles has more legal right to defend himself than the guy pulling the firearm. The idot messing with the turtles violated a bunch of different laws not but not any firearm laws.
As far as carrying a piece when mongering especially on your person I think its just inviting trouble with the law if something happens. It could be prosacuted in the taking a gun while commiting a felony / crime (even tho your not its just a misdomenor) 790.07. Now in your car with an unchambered round that is a different story cause you don't need a CCP to do that. Less trouble if its there. So even if I'm cruising to scout out the SW sceen I don't even have it in my car. Hate that feeling. So all I have is when doing that is my trusty EDC pocket legal knife it stays in my pant pocket so it can go into the room on my person and nobody know any different. As far as I'm concerned its better than nothing.
