It takes considerable time, money and risk to setup a sting. It is not a good use of resources. There are bigger crimes to fight.

That all goes out the window if some high profile person is tweeking the PD to shut the places down. But, I have never heard of a sting in the LA area.

If a monger gets caught it is because they are at an establishment at the wrong time. The "wrong time" being code enforcement not the act of solicitation. Usually the cops take their name and no charges are ever filed. It is not against the law to get naked, get a massage or to even get a boner at an MP. I don't even think it is illegal to have sex in a MP. It is illegal for the girls to perform the act and it is illegal for you to offer to P4P. But, the actual act. As far as the monger is concerned, I don't think so. Code enforcement does on occasion do inspection, especially if the neighboring business have been impacted or have complained. Inspectors will take the police for protection and they might take immigration. But, mostly they are looking for establishments without business licenses or girls without visas or massage certification / license or whatever the proper paperwork is for that municipality. Some cities follow state guidelines and others use their own rules. The inspectors shutdown the place if they don't have proper paperwork. The MP moves to different location. Went to some place I saw reviewed on a different site. North of Oxnard on Vineland. Place was clean and was offered lineup. Went to the place on the 2nd floor near Vineland and Oxnard. Seemed to be 2 not so young girls working there, but committed to the massage. Last Friday I was coming from Bob Hope. I didn't jump on the 134 home but took Victory and decided to cruise a bit. And to confirm what was said above, customers are confronted and pressured for intel, but it's providers and parlors that are targeted for licensing or tax violations (prostitution cases can hard to make there) and forced to close. I don't think it's a valid reason for us to run our mouths in the field or online, but that's a personal call.

And at the time of the '05 raids, as I was nearing the door of an AMP that was suspiciously closed past opening time I was approached by a Korean man running a business next door. He informed me proudly that the place had been swarmed by armed LE just the day before and that I should go elsewhere."Oh, really? Must've been one of those 'bad' places, huh?", I said, before driving straight to another AMP, also closed, and getting turned down for FS at 2 sure-thing other places (I can be stubborn like that). The news was in the next-day LA Times.

So it's clear to me that a major source of closures is complaints from neighbors. Makes you look at malls a different way, and I don't go twice to places where someone gives me the evil eye from behind their shop window.

I didn't mention it in my previous post's story, but when I pulled into the back lot of the second place I went, a woman was standing there near the AMP's door setting up video equipment on a tripod. I pretended to use the lot for a U-turn and kept driving. It was the day after major raids (I had no idea then) and she could've been a local reporter or some "activist" like that video vigilante. Goddamn snoops, snitches, & other "concerned citizens".
