There is definitely a social push to move everything online these days. And it's being helped by local and national law enforcement under the guise of stopping "sex trafficking" and "protecting the children". I mostly do the sugar baby thing, and it's becoming more and more common to google a girl's username from SA and find that she has an only fans. You can't really blame the girls though. Why would they take the time to shower, do their hair and makeup, and spend a few hours with a guy for a couple hundred dollars when they can just take a few pictures in their bedroom, upload them, and then get hundreds of dollars from subscribers they never have to meet or interact with? Even if they aren't in the top 10% of earners, they'll still be making $50 a week to fund their online shopping habits. That's easier than selling plasma for extra cash. And girls who don't want to get naked, if they're cute enough, can still grow a following and get money thrown at them by streaming themselves playing video games.
Then if Zuckerberg's dream comes true and VR headsets become as common a household appliance as microwaves and TVs, there will be even less incentive for people to meet in person. Women will be able to create videos on their phones that make it seem like you're having sex with them when you're in the metaverse. There are already professional porn studios that do this. It's only a matter of time before that technology hits the consumer market. And more and more men are going to be willing to pay for that. You'll even be able to join a real-time strip club, complete with tipping and VIP lounges, from the comfort of your living room. I've played around with an Oculus but don't own one of my own. Even playings simple games is engrossing, and I can see how people will want to spend all their time in VR.
I can't imagine the social ramifications of all sex work moving online. Younger guys will be ok with it because that will be all they know. I think eventually the only sex workers who will be willing to meet in person will be the addicts who need quick cash and don't have time to wait for the only fans payout at the end of the month. Younger women will flee from the sugar baby websites, and all that will be left will be the older divorcees and married women who still remember what it's like to actually be with a man and crave that physical intimacy.
Some of what you said gave me a chuckle and made me think of a couple of movies. One was "Bananas" with Woody Allen. They had machines you climb into (alone) and you get out after thinking you had sex. Then there was the movie with Sly Stallone where he's a renegade cop who gets busted, frozen, then unfrozen thirty years later to catch a dangerous criminal. Touching is unsanitary so no one does that. You sit down, close your eyes, put your hands on a machine and go crazy. Thank God I can still do real women and will be dead and buried before the future shit comes (forgive my pun).
