Personally, I like my T-Mobile, $15 per month for unlimited texts. Minutes are 0. 10 per minute on top of the $15, but after initial contact, I usually text and most girls are comfortable with that; the texts don't interfere with work like a phone call would. Had a Tracphone for a while, but was always adding $ because of something like $0. 30 per text!

Some guys really like Google Voice, but I haven't personally tried it.

I mainly just don't want these calls on the records of my regular family plan cell phone numbers.

However, going to extremes to keep the phone totally untraceable to your name, is a bit of overkill, IMHO. After all, mongering is still just a misdemeanor, and no LE on the planet is going to take the effort to reverse trace the numbers stored in a provider's phone, then track down the point of purchase of an unlisted tracfone number to see if it was bought with a credit card that just might lead to a name of a person who bought it, maybe for himself or maybe not. Way too much trouble for overworked public servants to even consider, unless maybe you've somehow gotten into the middle of a child trafficking ring or something like that. They go after the low hanging fruit among us mere mongers, like someone careless enough to respond to a BP ad without research that turns out to be a sting, or unlucky enough to just be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Com / voice) and delete calls and text messages just like you can delete emails in gmail. And if you ever think you might need to, you can delete the app from your iPhone. But always reinstall it by syncing to your iTunes backup. So if you're ever in a situation where the s / o or someone might see your Google Voice app, you can just delete it from your phone and reinstall it later.

Every time you sync your iPhone to your computer it creates a totally hidden and impossible to find or delete file that imbeds everything on your phone to your computer. Your SO won't find it on her own, but if you ever find yourself in a nasty divorce and her zealous lawyer makes you have your computer examined by an expert, it will all be there, including in all likelihood all of the calls, pictures and texts you thought you had deleted. Synching leaves a detailed trail, and the content can be retrieved by forensic computer analysis. Other phones probably do the same, but I know for a fact that iPhones do this.

Edit: I forgot to say this, but iPhone pictures also have imbedded GPS data that experts can use to determine the exact location and date that each picture was taken.
